Apartment advice for Seville

We (2 adults and 2 teenage daughters) are planning on spending 6 nights in Seville over Christmas and were wondering if anyone has any comments on any of these apartments.

Any comments, especially regarding location would be most appreciated. Thanks

I would have opted for one of the three last apartments.

The first one is in the modern Remedios district, close to the great Triana barrio on the other side of the Rio Guadalquivir. Mostly a residential, middle/high class area. Only a few minutes walking to the cathedral etc.

The second would be in the atmospheric Arenal area. Lots of great bars, restaurants etc in this neighbourhood. Close to the bullring. A much more local feel than in the close by and more touristy Santa Cruz district.

The two last would be in the bohemian yet traditional Alameda/Macarena district a little north of what the locals call center. Great tapas bars, cafés, outdoor areas (Alameda de Hercules/ several plazas), many churches/convents and close to the "home" of the city's dear Virgen de la Macarena in the Basílica de la Macarena. 15-20 mins walking to the cathedral and the other most famous sights. I use to stay in or close to this area.

Thank you so much for the information - really helpful. My husband has decided that he likes a Sevilla 5 apartment which we are trying to get (http://www.sevilla5.com/apartments/seville.html Antonia Diaz) which is in the Arenal area. From the information you provided this sounds like a great place to stay. Thank you!

Great location, the Arenal area is very nice. You will be close to some fabulous tapas bars: Enrique Becerra and Bodega Antonio Romero, and one of my absolute favourites in Sevilla, Bodegas Diaz Salazar in C/García de Vinuesa, 20. A branch of the very popular Mesón Serranito is in your street C/ Antonia Diaz, 11.

And if you want to see first class flamenco performers, go to Casa de la Memória in the Santa Cruz district, 5-10 mins walking from your apartment. Popular with tourists, but it's definitely the real deal. Pastora Galván has danced here once a week for a long time. She made her definitive breakthrough as one of the absolute finest bailaoras of our time during the last Bienal de flamenco in Sevilla (the world's largest and most prestigious flamenco festival) some months ago. She was recently voted best female flamenco dancer in 2010 by Spanish critics. Also many other great talents, not only dancers but also singers and guitarists.

And maybe wind down in the Arab bath house Aire de Sevilla. Also close. A friend of mine went five times in a week...

Enrique Becerra is great, try the lamb meatballs with mint and the foie gras with apples.

Thanks for the great tips. Flamenco is definately on the list as one of our daughters danced for a long time and has a love of all dance. She will be delighted with the recommendation.

I am really looking forward to going to Spain. Have never been to Barcelona before (we are having a week there), and was last in Seville and Granada almost 30 years ago! When I pulled out an old photo albumn of that trip I noted a comment about how much I liked Seville. Strange it has taken so long to return!
