Hi All,

My family is considering booking an apartment for a week in "Apartment Bollo" for our trip to Rome this Summer

It says it is behind Campo dei Fiori, but how far is this from traditional Trastevere area? Any reveiws of Bollo apartment/building?

We appreciate your help with this.

Am I missing something (like my brain)? I didn't see any photos and couldn't find where to see them on the link.

I'm very easygoing about my accommodations and have rented in Rome a few times but there is no way I'd choose an apartment with no photos.

Have you checked the apartment reviews on slowtrav.com?

This is on Vicolo del Bollo. We couldn't find any reviews for this on slowtrav.

Thanks again for your feedback/reviews of this apartment (location, good/bad experiences).

1. Like others I cannot find any photos. Not a good sign...

2. The vicolo del Bollo is just west of C. de' Fiori. It is nowhere near Trastevere, though you can walk to one from the other in, say, 15 minutes.

3. BTW: The vic. del Bollo is still in a great area, though indeed I prefer the area just north of there, by P.zza Navona. Great restaurants in both areas.

4. I'm leaving for Rome in 10 days and we have researched Rome apartments ad nauseam. What are your requirements exactly???

Here are our requirements for this or other rentals for a week this Summer.

-Big enough apartment for a family of 4 (kids are teens)
-experience the italian/roman culture
-central enough to walk to and get easy transportation to all landmarks etc
-reasonably priced (we will paying about 1300 euros for Bollo)

It's a very good location, running between via del Pellegrino and via dei Cappellari. I've rented apartments on both those streets and have been very happy; some people find it a bit noisy because the area is bustling.

You can walk to Trastevere in about 15 minutes, I'd say off the top of my head. If you're a good walker you can basically walk everywhere from that location.

Oh, I just saw your other posts and tedgale's, too. I think teenagers would be pretty happy in this location. You parents will like it too.

A few words from you comparing this vs. Bollo interms of location/features will make it easy for me to decide.

It's sort of six of one, half-dozen of the other in terms of location. You parents might be a smidge happier at the Navona location. I hate to generalize, but that area has a very slightly older feel--still extremely nice, IMO.

The kids might like Campo a tiny bit better. But these two apartments aren't really very far from each other at all.

I'd probably just pick the biggest one.

Oh, wait a minute, the Bollo has an elevator. The one by Piazza Navona is 4th floor (American 5th flr) with no elevator. Probably has gorgeous views of the rooftops of Rome, though.

Ah, Montevecchio! You'd be right by the fabulous restaurant Montevecchio, also Cantina del Vecchio, also Osteria del Pegno....in short, you'll eat so well you'll need to stay in a 5th floor walk-up to work off all the calories.

And TWO balconies. I'm in!

Maybe we should have booked here instead of v. del Babuino (March 1-8, 2006) though we can always run up the Spanish steps to get the same workout...
