Anzac Day in Turkey
I intend going to Turkey to spend Anzac day 2000. Some questions
1. Is it safe for an Aussie?
2. Where do I stay...budget please.
3. Do I stay for a long period of time or do I explore other parts of Turkey. If so which parts would you recommend.
4. How do I travel around?
5. ANY OTHER ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED
Thanks in advance
Graham

I'll try to answer some of your questions.
1. Safety - yes it is safe for an Aussie, but of course, judge it before you go next year. This year there were moderate warnings in place, which were removed just before Anzac Day.
2. Budget accommodation - theres loads of budget accom in Turkey. Around the Gallipoli area though, it will all fill up. Consider doing an Anzac Day Tour to ensure you get accommodation.
Check out http://anzacday-year2000.webjump.com for some examples.
3. Definitely see more of the country. Its an amazing country - very beautiful with lots of history. Do a search on this site under Turkey and you should pull up heaps of info.
4. Its very easy and fairly cheap to get around the country by bus. English is widely spoken in the tourist populated areas.
Hope this has been of help.
Defernately due a tour of Gallipoli, if you book for a tour, then you will be assured of accomadation.

A cool tour company is Hassle Free Tours and are based out of Canakale, on the other side of the Dardenalles, about 5 minutes accross by ferry.

check out www.anzachouse.com
email [email protected]
