Hi! I have just stumbled across luxurylink.com while looking for a hotel in Prague, but have had no dealings with them, nor have I heard of anyone I know using them. I wondered if anyone has purchased a package from them, and if so, are they legitimate? Their prices seemed too good to be true, and like the saying goes.....Best I can figure, it's kinda like eBay for travel?

I just posted a reply to this on your other post, but here's what I wrote and I've added more at the bottom.

I've bought a few packages on Luxurylink over the years. They can be a very good deal, but you have to do your homework.
Look at what the package offers then go to the hotel's own website and see if they offer a similar package or price things out a la carte. Sometimes there's little savings on LL, sometimes it's a lot.
What's nice is their packages usually include breakfast and all taxes which in some places can add a lot on.
In the case of out package in Prague, I think it was a significant value-we spent $820 total for 4 nights there (3 of which were in a Junior Suite) with all sorts of extras including the dinner, tour, museum tickets, extra little gifts, etc.). I don't think we could have had 4 nights there in a regular room for that.
But again, it pays to do your homework. I've seen packages on LL which are not such a good deal.
And yes, it is an auction site, so you have to stay on top of things if you bid-unlike on ebay, you can be outbid and I don't think you can put in your highest price and then have it re-bid for you. They also have regular "buy" packages, but these rarely seem to be a good deal.

Edited to add: Yes, they are very legitimate. I used them for a hotel room in NYC in 2001, for a package in Costa Rica in 2003, and just this month in Prague. Over the years the packages have become more expensive and the "deals" a little sparser. Still, I always look there before a trip because you never know...
Yes, sometimes the opening bids are "too good to be true" but that just means like with any auction, there will be lots of bidders and the price will go up. Know the value of the package you want and don't get carried away with the bidding.
Also, one thing I've noticed-if they see a lot of interest in a package, they reserve the right extend the auction closing time to see if they can get more "action" on the package.

Do a text search, there are many comments about the company. Have used them for the US twice and the UK once without problems. Do not overbid and check multiple places to make sure you are getting a good deal. You can also sometimes do better on you own, especially with the "buy it now" feature. Good luck.

Have any of you who have used LL had problems with the blackout dates? I'm always worried that I'll buy a package and then when I want to use it, be told that it's not available at that time.

We used bought a fabulous package on Luxury Link this past year for the Cottswold House Hotel for $700 (room, dinner, breakfast, etc. a ton of stuff). Before I bid on the package, I sent the hotel an email saying I saw a package on luxurylink and that I wanted to know if I could use it for the dates I was going. I also asked him if I could split it up and instead of one room for 2 for 4 nights, if I could use it for 2 rooms for 4 for 2 nights since we were traveling with our kids. The owner said no problem and I bought it for $700. We probablly saved $1800, however as others have noted, I think since the website has been discovered, the deals are not as great as before.

So before you bid, get in writing from them that you can use it for your dates. Once I won, I immediately sent my email confirmation to the place with my winning bid certificate number. I found it very easy to use and of great value.

Woohoo!! I was able to "win" an auction on Luxurylink for our trip to Prague!! Here's what I got~3 nights at a very expensive hotel in a luxury suite (400Euros/night listed on their website), breakfast, airport transfers, flowers, fruit, and champagne in room upon arrival, voucher for 100Euros for dinner in the hotel restaurant, a private walking tour, and all taxes~grand total=$850 (approx. 630Euros). I think this is a pretty good deal, as it affords us the opportunity to stay someplace that we never would have looked at otherwise. I received an e-mail confirmation from Luxurylink, and have confirmed my hotel reservations. Lemme know your experience, if any, with L.L.

just came back from prague march 2007 on a luxurylink win. we stayed at hotel maxmillian, we got a great deal and we were so happy with hotel maxmillian.

You really do have to check carefully. I've researched several trips we were interested in on luxury link and found we could save a lot of money doing it on our own. But those were only particular trips we were interested in.
