Anyone over 35 done a Contiki tour?

My friend and I (both Australians) have been trying for weeks to find a tour of Italy that takes in Cinque Terra (along with a number of other places in Italy). We have finally found one that does, and also takes in a few spots in Spain and France, which is a huge bonus. The only issue is that it is a Contiki tour. I am 33, so fit under the upper age limit, however my friend is early 50s. She is very "young" minded, but we're not sure how we will enjoy the atmosphere (we're both very friendly, but not interested in partying our way through Europe). I also don't know how a Contiki group would feel about someone in their 50s on such a tour. Can anyone give me some advice here?
Or, does anyone know of another good tour that takes in Cinque Terra?
Thanks!

I think Contiki is strict about their 18-35 age limit. Someone who was in her 50s simply would not be allowed to go, regardless of her outlook or abilities.

My friend and I were talking about this last week. She did a Contiki tour when she was 40, so either she lied about her age, or they didn't care. Probably best to ask them directly about that.

My friend said there were definitely partyers in the group, but also others who were more "mature" and hung out well together (and didn't stay up until the wee hours). She did say accommdations on the tour tend to be pretty basic, so you may want to ask your friend if that matters.

From Contiki's terms and conditions at
http://www.contiki.com/terms.asp

5.2 Contiki's tours are specifically planned for those in the 18 through 35 age group. Consequently the facilities and activities on a Contiki tour are not appropriate to persons outside this age bracket. If you have a question regarding the age groups, you should discuss this thoroughly with Contiki staff personnel.

So like crazymina stated, it's probably best to ask, just in case there is some wiggle room in that clause.

Rick Steves' tour of Italy includes Cinque Terre:

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the feedback. I've emailed Contiki and am awaiting a reply. I'm not convinced it would work out, but it never hurts to ask!!

I talked to Contiki last year and was told they didn't allow anyone over 35 but would allow a 17 year old. If you had anyone in your group over 35 you would have to do a private tour and to get the rates on their website you would have to have 20 people.

Have you looked into UnTours? I'm not sure if they go to Cinque Terre or not.
