anyone been to Monticatini Lately?

Is is still as beautiful as I remember it being. I just looked at my pictures from there and I'm truly heart sick about not being there right now.

So please tell me about your recent trips, it could make a girl feel better in Detroit.

Thanks, Theresa

We are leaving in three weeks for 10 days in Italy. We've rented a house in Monticatini for a week. Glad to hear that it's beautiful and you'd love to be there now as I really haven't read too much about it. Do you have any recommendations? Restaurants, day trips, wineries, etc?

Hi,

I don't know if you meant Montecatini Terme, near Pistoia, if you did, I recommend the following restaurants:

IL GALLO - Via del Gallo (in my opinion best pizza in town, best for dinner).

BOLOGNESE - Corso Matteotti (good for lunch and dinner).

LO STUZZICHINO - Corso Roma (good for lunch and dinner).

CORSARO VERDE - Piazza XX Settembre (you can eat outside, good for lunch and dinner).

MONTACCOLLE - Via Marlianese (on the hills about 10 miles from Montecatini. Best for dinner, great typical Tuscan food).

LA POLVERIERA - Via Marlianese (on the hills about 7 miles from Montecatini. Best for dinner, beautiful view on the Valdinievole valley).

ENOTECA DA GIOVANNI - Via Garibaldi Outstanding restaurant, the best in Montecatini and one of the best in the area. Expensive, but worth it, top food, great wines and perfect service: a must. Best for dinner.

About day trips:

- FLORENCE
- LUCCA
- PISA
- PISTOIA
- SIENA
- VIAREGGIO/FORTE DEI MARMI (on the seaside).

Don't forget to visit Montecatini Alto, the old Montecatini, situated on the hills overlooking the Valdinievole (a beautiful valley).

Have fun

Thanks for the suggestions Kailu. We are planning day trips to most that you've mentioned. Doing Cinque Terre also. What's Viareggio/Foreti Dei Marmi? Is it near Pisa or La Spezia?

Hi,

Forte dei Marmi and Viareggio are 2 nice towns with nice beaches, on the Tyrrhenian Sea, on the way to La Spezia.

I can't tell you how ecited I am about your trip! A rented house in Monticantini, I am so envious. I just fell in Love with the city there. It is so beautiful. The entire surrounding area just blew my mind.

I was with a group of teenagers while there and really didn't get to do to much on my own. I did shop and have dinner at a restaurant right in the center of the city. There is a carasol right next to it, the restaurant also had outside dining too. I did do a Monticatini report, which might have better info on it.

I am at home sick today with a major earache and I can't believe how much it hurts while I'm on the computer. It's really making my life hell. I will check back on this post later.

Have the best time (shame on you if you don't)and the people there are so nice, what other cities are you going to. I am so excited for you.

Theresa in Detroit.
