Anybody know where to eat in Sintra?

Hi, Husband and I are going to be there tomorrow night. Can't find anything that looks good on various food sights. Looking for casual dining with lots of vegetables possibly some atmosphere, and moderate price.

We didn't look far for lunch in Sintra. But the food was good at a little cafe with an open-air patio in front. If you stand, facing the church, the cafe is to your left, on the side, facing the church.

There are probably foodie places, too, but we weren't looking for that. Just a nice lunch and a break from walking.

I hope you're also visiting Cascais? We liked it a lot. There's a gorgeous upscale hotel right on the water, in town, where we had a fabulous meal overlooking the beach.

How far a drive is that? Sounds amazing.

Sintra do Cascais is about 30 minutes driving (including navigation).
I think Tabernash2 refers to Hotel Albatroz. I have another suggestion: Casino do Estoril.

We took the train from Lisbon to Cascais. I think it took 45 minutes. They run quite often. Very cheap, too.

BTW, the pronunciation of "Cascais" is surprising. It's something like Caush-kye.

Lobo, is that casino the first train stop before Cascais? Because we went to that location on another day, as the train was so easy, and we like oceanside places.

Sintra itself is not exactly gourmet-ville from what we discovered. We were staying at the Tivoli across from the 15th century National Palace. I would highly recommend it for both moderately-priced lodgings (see web pages below)with garage parking and excellent buffet breakfasts (take a rear room with patio and great views). We also dined there one night and the restaurant was excellent..again moderately priced...two dinners of piri-piri roast chicken, mozzarella salads and deserts...23 euros total, with carafe of wine.

For a lighter meal, lunch at the Village Cafe next to the TI ... quite nice. It's from there you can hop the frequent bus up to the Pena Palace grounds (shuttle meets you and takes you up to the palace). There is at least one restaurant with table-cloth dining within the palace, and also available terrace light dining. Each are not superb, but passable and overpriced. Need I say more?

Down at Cascais Harbor, we found the Lusitan cafe offered a wonderful mix of cod and crab casserole. We had a car and found the drive along the coast and Cabo da Roca to Cascais very picturesque and quite sparse traffic st that time of year...early May (see pix below).

Hope you have a chance to see more of Portugal.

Hi tower, we are doing a 10 day whistle stop driving tour of Sintra, Obidos, Porto, Guimariaes, wine region, staying at Lamego, then Evora and Lisbon. We are currently at Vancouver airport about to board for London then Lisbon.
