Anybody else get "invited" (spammed) by lpforum.net today?

It looks to be a legitimate (and non-commercial?) forum that might interest me or other Fodors folks - - but I don't know where they got my name, nor who they are. Too new to have a critical mass to really be of any interest.

And wherever they harvested my name - - shame, shame - - even if it is a genuine match to my interests.

I can't imagine why another "specialty" forum for "Independence Travlers" is needed to augment this one. We all seem to be "Independence Travlers" here, for the most part.

Best wishes,

Rex

Rex, I think because you have your email posted. Notice after your post, someone named Randy said he got an invite and he also has his email posted.

Yes.I wouldnt call it spam though, as it passed by my filter and appears legitimate and well conceived thus far.

It is not from Lonely Planet.

I am sure it is a violation of Lonely Planet's (LP) copyrite. It is from The KLM Group of companies.

The KLH Group of Companies is how the web site owners are listed. It's a collection of Singaporean companies that sell decorative tiles, marble, glass, doors, and similar items of equal interest to "Budget Travelers & Backpackers."

It is spam if you didn't request it.

<<It is spam if you didn't request it.>>

... and mass-distributed, as this appears to have been...

<<I wouldnt call it spam though, as it passed by my filter and appears legitimate and well conceived thus far.>>

A lot of spam can be called "legitimate" - - legitimacy does not negate the unsolicited factor, which is the definition of spam.

Oh, and I meant to clarify that I don't know where they got my name - - because there are plenty of other places (travel-related and not) where I leave my e-mail address publicly accessible.

And I decline to stop doing that.
