Any Virtuoso users here?

I've been using Virtuoso if I want to book a hotel in their program. Their hotels are always pretty upscale and seem to get good reviews. Booking with them, you get breakfast, early check-in and late-check-out (IF available), upgrade (IF available) and a sum (usually $100 or $150) to spend inside the hotel, on food or spa services........

I'm curious if anyone here has used them. If so, please let me know if you think there is any reason NOT to book with them, assuming their rates are the same as those on the hotel's website. (They seem to be, and sometimes Virtuoso's are a bit cheaper)

I've never booked with AMEX although I have a lot of points......same questions---would I get any benefit of booking with them over booking directly with the hotel?

Do you think the booking with either of those services gets a guest better service? (I do read a lot that people who use Booking often get undesirable rooms.l.many comments about that in the reviews on their website)

I use Virtuoso occasionally when their rates are good for the extra benefits. Also use AMX for same reason. Tend to prefer AMX for the extra points. Think AMX might get you better rooms but that’s just a hunch. I am also platinum Marriott so do also use them when it is advantageous.

I was considering Virtuoso a while back - but found they had terrible reviews on Trust Pilot. Of course each agent is individual so there are probably some good ones.

What were the complaints on TP? Can’t imagine what someone would complain about. Probably that they did not get the free upgrade.

Tried to book the Majestic Hotel in Barcelona for March; their site showed no availability on the 5th (big tech conference in town that week).
Contacted my Virtuoso agent and presto! She got me a room for that night, although the price is twice the price of the following nights.
