ANY SUGGESTION WHICH AREA OF MADRID TO STAY FOR ACCOMODATION
My wife and I are attending the World dental conference Aug 29- Sept 1. We have many choices of hotels in Madrid.. We prefer the old town area. Anyone have suggestions of good 4 star hotels and in which area of Madrid. Thanks Bob

Check out the new DoubleTree by Hilton Madrid Prado. It's an excellent botique hotel, very comfortable, offers an excellent breakfast and is just around the corner from the Westin Palace on Calle Prado.
We stayed there last month and will be back in November. The exterior rooms are large.

Take a look at Reina Victoria right on Plaza Santa Ana in the Barrio de las Letras/Literay quarter: https://www.melia.com/en/hotels/spai...ria/index.html
Gets excellent reviews from guests: https://www.booking.com/hotel/es/mel...ria.en-gb.html
Here's some info about the district. As good and central as it gets, rich history, right opposite emblematic Teatro Español, fine tapas bars and some excellent restaurants, narrow streets, some of the finest flamenco clubs in the world and 50 meters from one of the best jazz venues in Europe. I always stay in this area: http://www.spain.info/en/lugares-int...as_letras.html
Jazz at Café Central, live music from world class artists every night: https://www.lonelyplanet.com/spain/m...1095470/360770
Casa Patas has arguably been the finest tablao/flamenco restaurant in Spain in recent years, 300 meters from Reina Victoria: http://casapatas.com/casa-patas-2/

We stayed in Barrio de Las Letras, an excellent area 10 minutes walk from the Prado. It was easy walking and if you get tired, the taxis are cheap. We stayed at a Spain Select apartment, Lope de Vega II
I believe since you are going to the World Dental Conference that you'll not be down in the mouth staying in this area and your experience should be very full Filling.
Check out Chapters Seventeen through Twenty on the below trip report...it covers Madrid and shows our apartment...best shower ever!!!

By the way Spain Select...aka HomeSelect (who we also used in Sevilla has lots of good places and is really easy to work with).
