Any recommendations for Sunday night diner in Paris?

We usually go to Brasserie Bofinger but want to try something new. Any recommendations? Thanks.

There are a number of great restaurants to choose from, but it all depends on the type of cuisine you're looking for. Or are you looking for another Brasserie to compare Bofinge to?

In the 6th we have gone to Fish la Boissonnerie on rue de Seine. It is a small place with Mediterranean cuisine and some interesting wines by the glass. In the 1st we ate at L'Ardoise which isn't fancy but has great food.

Hi lori,

La Fontaine de Mars has been recommended by many on this forum.

Have enjoyed and would go again to any of the three restaurants mentioned in the above posts.

Patricia Wells' book is a good source for Sunday openings...I think she even has a page for just that.

Lori, not knowing where you are staying, here are some places in central Paris we've enjoyed that are open on Sundays. Am listing them by arrondissement.

75003:
L'Ambassade d'Auvergne. 22 rue du Grenier St-Lazare. North of the Pompidou. Good regional food.
Chez Janou. 2 rue Roger-Verlomme. Behind the place des Vosges. Casual, Provençal fare. (No credit cards unless they've changed recently.)

75004:
Mon Vieil Ami. 69 rue St Louis en l'Ile on the Ile St Louis. A modern take on brasserie food - very good.

75005:
Le Reminet. 3 rue Grands Degrés. Small, good neighborhood bistro on the Left Bank close to Notre Dame.

76006:
La Mediterranée. 2 pl de l'Odéon. Specializes in fish.

76007:
Cáfé de l'Alma. 5 ave Rapp. Elegant, contemporary cafe/brasserie with quite good food.
Fontaine de Mars. 129 rue St Dominique. Convivial Southwestern French style bistro.

75009:
Cafe de la Païx. 12 blvd des Capucines near the Opéra Garnier. Worth a visit for the beautiful remodel.

Bistro de Breteuil in the 7th; it's been a few years since I have been there, but recently Underhill wrote very positively about it.

Thanks to all. We are thinking of Le Reminet, so thanks MaisonMetz. We are staying at (it's due to miles!!!) the Park Hyatt Place Vendome, but we have absolutely no issue with traveling throughout Paris via Metro.

Three Sunday spots in my neighborhood, the 7th, that I enjoy on Sundays are Au Petit Tonneau, Thoumieux, and Le Petit Niçois.

Agree with Fish - reasonably priced wine and food. We have Sunday reservations for our April trip. Staff was friendly last time we were there.

After having had a couple of Sunday dinners at La Fontaine du Mars, it's not as great as the first time we went. Un less you are looking for something like this, it seemed like everybody was an American the last time we were there (late last year). The cassoulet, though, continues to be the constant reason for me to go there. Very SW France, in style and content.

Thomieux, with some SW France type dishes, is only about 3 or 4 blocks away from LFdM and is one that we're willing to try the next time we're there on a Sunday night.

Hello Lori: If you're game for something a bit different in terms of seating and service, as well as a bit pricy, you might try L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon in the Hotel Pont Royal on rue de Montalembert in the 7th. The restaurant is somewhat controversial on this board (you can do a search). We dined there on a Sunday evening last November and we pleased with the experience overall. Good luck. Gradyghost.

I enjoyed Le Petit Chase. Moderate pricing, the oldest Restaurant in Paris.
