Restaurants near Place de la Republic Paris

A friend of a friend would like a list of restaurants near (south of) Place de la Republic. I cannot get any criteria for restaurants from this person so a quick list of any type of good restaurant to get her started would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

I'm no foodie, but had a pretty good meal at Chez Jenny (Alsatian specialities), on Blvd du Temple, just south of République:

On the square itself is a huge branch of Leon de Bruxelles, the mussels chain, and a lot of other cafés, brasseries and restaurants.

A second for Le Pamphlet, which is a terrific value for excellent food.

Also for Chez Jenny, a large brasserie with the virtue of being open on days (such as Sunday) when some other restaurants might be closed.

Place de la République is a festival of restaurants all to itself without even straying elsewhere.

Nobody can go hungry in that part of town, no matter what day of the week.

The Léon de Bruxelles location was the very first one to open in Paris, before spreading throughout France. And yes, Chez Jenny is an excellent place, which I can once again recommend after its previous owners got evicted due to renting the upstairs room to neo-nazi meetings.
