Any Low Cost Airlines That Fly Amsterdam to Venice

We will be in Amsterdam in September for a convention. We want to go to Venice for a few days after our meeting, but KLM and Alitalia fares are so high....$800 and up. I don't know of any budget airlines that fly this route....can anyone give me some advice on possible low cost airlines for this? I think we would have to fly through London to use a budget airlines from London and then on to Venice. Is this correct?
Any help would be appreciated.

If you can handle a layover you should be able to get a much cheaper fare on Lufthansa. They serve both cities, but I don't think that they have any direct flights.

In addition to the information above, you may want to check out www.whichbudget.com.

Also, how flexible are you on dates? I don't know what days you're looking at, but $800 seemed so high that I tried this for KLM with a few random dates in Sept., and though they did have flights for $800 and up, they had RTs starting at about $300. Not as cheap as a low-cost airline, but if that doesn't work out, it's better than nothing.

Thanks so much for the link to Transavia...that is exactly what I was looking for. Have you flown this airline?

No, haven't. They've been around for a bit, though, and are part of KLM. Note they fly to Venice Treviso airport, though. (Saying Venice Treviso is like saying Chicago Milwaukee IMO but that's the nature of low cost carrier airports.)

How do you get to Venice from Treviso?
Do you know how much a taxi would be?

There's a very convenient bus service to Venice from the airport.
