They are all pretty good hotels in reasonable locations (the Burlington is a bit of a walk to the very centre of Dublin, but taxis are always outside the hotel if you don't fancy the walk). Most are standard 4 star hotels.

I'm sure I posted a response to this yesterday, but...

They are all above average quality without being de luxe. The two I know are the George in Edinburgh which is fine (although I once did get a cupboard for a room when I was at a conference)Great location

The Alveston Manor is slightly out of the town centre, but that's probably a plus

A friend & I stayed at the Copthorne Tara in London a few years ago as part of a British Airways package. The hotel is not the most charming from the outside, but we were impressed once we got in the front doors. The rooms were very comfortable. The staff went out of their way to assist us when we had questions (and we had lots of questions!) The rooms were very well soundproofed, which meant that we slept very well. The hotel is near the High Street Kensington underground station and lots of shops & restaurants.

My mother and I stayed at the Copthorne Tara three years ago. The location is excellent as are the services by this large tourist type hotel. However, our room, as my mother put it, "looked like a very old Holiday Inn." The decor was tattered and cramped by European standards. The bedspreads were soiled as were the rugs. The bathroom was moldy and small for an English bathroom. I normally pay between $250 and $300 per room including VAT, services and breakfast. This location was booked through American Airlines Vacations. I was embarassed. The hotel assured us that this was a superior room. They offered us another room for $700. I travel often. This was a true ripoff.
