Hi lica
There is only one hostel-type unit on Mykonos. Find details here but please read its reviews on tripadvisor:

If you can let us know how much your budget is per night I am sure we might be able to find somewhere for you much closer to town.

I've seem this paradise beach resort before but I think it is a little bit out of town. I thought about a hostel because I am travelling by myself so in a hostel would be easier to meet people, but a nice hotel would be OK too.
Thanks for the tip

People wait at the port with rooms to rent, and in mid-September you should easily find something in your budget range or less. Last time I was on Mykonos (mid-June) I got a very nice room that way near Lakka Square for €45/night.

Like Heimdall said... no need to book anything in advance....
Just compare offers at the port, and choose whatever is more appealing to you...
Heimdall, seems we 've made the same experience, my first accommodation was a room ( an excellent and very cheap one) in the Lakka area.....

Hi lica
You've had good advice from both Heimdall and clausar but, if you are like me, I prefer to know I have somewhere already booked before arriving.
Check out these three lodgings which are within your budget in or very close to Mykonos town .
Above the Rochari area in the School of Fine Arts district of town:

In Despotika, close to the main road that circles around the town (you may have some traffic noise) but only a few minutes walk from the bus station where you get services to the southern beaches:

The Drafaki has been well known for many years for being about the cheapest hotel close to town. Its website is not now showing rates but last year they were about 40e a night for a double. It might be worth emailing them:
