Any Hope of Getting Luggage on Regionale Trains?

I read somewhere that there is no luggage storage on Regionale trains within Italy since they are generally used by commuters. That said, for one of our connections the only train available is a Regionale, and we have two large suitcases as well as two carry-on size (unfortunately, we can't downsize either).

Is there any way we'll be able to get as this only to train? Where could we keep it?

no problem yes just put it by your seat, in the aisle, etc. and most of these trains are rarely full so will be empty seats as well to serve as luggage racks.

I took many regional trains in January and luggage would never have been a problem though i was day tripping.

You may have read incorrrectly. Regional trains use a variety of equipment which is sometimes older. But I have yet to ride one that didn't have some sort of luggage racks.

there may also be areas between or under seats where cases can be stowed.

I really doubt you are going to have to sit on it.

As previous posts, you shalln't have any problem to store luggage in regional trains, the most convenient place(no lifting up overhead)is in between the seats(back to back), or under the seats.

Rachellia,

All the regionale trains I've taken have had racks or room for luggage.

What did you decide to do about shipping your 'event" clothing?

Hey Dayle, I'm probably going to make sure it shows up in Italy first, and then we are planning to call DHL from Europe about the service. Then, depending on cost, we'll have them pick it up (we're in Rome for 4 days, so there's time to do this)and take it to Germany. I'm just trying to see right now how things will be should we decide not to ship our bags...
