Any comments on Piazza Monte Di Pieta in Rome?

Planning to book this B&B in Rome for July. Got a rate of 440L for two doubles. Anyone stayed there recently have any feedback? What did the accomodations include? Location good? Restaurant recommendations nearby? <BR>Thanks to all.

Hate to be picky, but 440L is 21 cents. It is probably 440,000ITL? <BR> <BR>The area is by Campo de Fiori. Great location. July is a hot, hot month.

I think there was some discussion about this B&B on the forum a while back -- try running a search for "monte di pieta". From what I recall, comments were positive. The pictures I've seen online look gorgeous, and the location's great.

We stayed there in Sept. 2000. Location is great, just off the Campo de Fiore. The rooms are immaculate. Be careful however-the room we reserved 5months prior to our arrival was not available our first night(This is the one pictured on the web site and has 2 problems-very noisy at night, and the bathroom is the shower). so, our first night we stayed on the top floor-lovely but a hike up 80 stairs that are double wide marble. The second noght we stayed in the room we reserved. Our third night was fine. It was overlooking the inside piazza. The rooms are much quieter there and have a normal bathroom with separate shower. The breakfast is ok and served in the room shown on the net ad. The hostess is lovely and speaks English. I would stay there again if guaranteed a specific room and not have to change 3 times. Even though they moved our luggage for us, it was inconvenient. If you go in July, make sure thery have air conditioning. I do not remember seeing any in the rooms. Also, a great restaurant to try is La Cisterna, just across the Tiber and a short walk from the B&B. ENJOY!! Rome is wonderful.

Holly -- here are a few websites with pics of the Monte Di Pieta (it was interesting reading Jan's comments, especially about the 80 steps, since the reason I decided against staying there was the lack of elevator for my elderly mama): <BR> <BR>http://www.guestinitaly.com/accommodation/mdpieta.htm <BR> <BR>http://www.sleepinitaly.com/files/bb_montedipieta.html <BR> <BR>http://www.initaly.com/hisres/b&bs/b&bs.htm#pieta <BR> <BR>Happy browsing! <BR>

Jan, thanks for the advice. So what room should I ask for that you liked the best? We are traveling with our 11 year-old and wanted a little more space than most European (tiny) hotel rooms. Also, I am a light sleeper.

Evelyn: Stayed at M di P in Oct. 4 of us had the "deluxe" rooms, really a small apt on 4th floor. A bit of a hike, but had 2 separate BRs.w/ 2 baths and LR and small kitchen. Very quiet and nice and good location. Skip the meager breakfast and stock the fridge instead. The owner made dinner reservations for us, gave us directions, and for 50$, her husband took us to the airport; same price as cab, but more reliable for 7 am flight. I would stay there again--booked thru guestinitaly.com; perhaps they could suggest which room would be best if you don't wish to climb the stairs.
