any comments on Grand Hotel Des Balcons???????

Planning our first trip to Paris in March. From all the great info I've gotten on this site, we're choosing the GRAND HOTEL DES BALCONS ... I think the price is right & the location is good. Just curious if anyone else who has stayed here has any tips, comments or suggestions about the hotel. Would love to hear your experience!

Gwyn,

We stayed at the Balcons in November and had a great experience. The location is truly terrific and the staff was wonderful. The rooms were typically small as was the tub with hand-held shower. If you want to see my trip report, e-mail me and I will send it to you.

--KH

Any previous posts about Balcons, may have included comments by me! I love this hotel, I love to get up in the morning and take a run/walk around the Luxembourg Gardens! They have an outstanding b-fest(by 2 star standards) friendly staff and very nicely decorated rooms, though bathrooms/rooms are smaller then in the US they are of a standard size for Europe. When we go back to Paris I plan to stay at this hotel again.

Great! Now, does anyone know of a place near the Balcons where you can find the wonderful hot chocolate that has been discussed in another post???

Yes, there is a pastry shop just a few blocks from the Balcons that has great hot chocolate. I don't remember the name, but the jolly man at the front desk referred us there and he can help you too, I'm sure (the pastries there were good, too.) The only down side is there is minimal seating at this shop for you to actually sit and drink the hot chocolate!

Kathryn

PS: Angelina's is a quick metro ride away--you must try them while you are in Paris! Their specialty dessert is wonderful, too (called something like Mont Blanc, I think.)

Is this hotel still a good value? Anyone stayed here more recently than when topic originally posted?
