Antibes or Villefranche, please help!

Hello. My wife and I are new to Cote d'Azur and we are trying to determine the best home base for an early July (yes, this July!) trip to Cote d'Azur. We are young-ish (low 30s), adventurous, don't mind crowds, enjoy great food and drink, like to relax, etc.

We are trying to decide whether to stay at Hotel Provecal in Villefranche OR at Hotel La Jabotte in Antibes. Which location and hotel would you choose and why?

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

We visited both. VF is closer to Nice and Monte Carlo, Eze , but a bit small for my taste.Antibes is lovely and seemed more lively.(closer to Cannes).
Both are well connected to the rest of Cote by bus and train.
I would chose Antibes.

nbujic - thank you, this is what we needed and it sounds like Antibes is more appropriate for us.

Well, I'm hoping you'll get lots of good comments about the Hotel Provencal, since that's where we'll be staying in October.

Actually, we've already read and heard good things about it, here and elsewhere.

I hope you'll write a trip report when you return.

Have a great time!

Villefranche does not court tourists so there are no must sees as in Antibes, you have the Picasso and Peynet museums
and alot of good restaurants.

Depending what you wish to do of your stay. Villefranche and Antibes both have sandy beach with an advantage to Antibes.
Nightly, Antibes is so closed to Juan les pins, where the fun for low 30s is that there is no hesitation. Villefranche is rather "contemplative" than active. As someone wrote it Cannes (mind your spending !) is not far away.
i live in eze so my preference is for villefranche but we are not on the same "age range". I have no experience re local hotels.
