eks, that was a really interesting article. I wish the brave Mr. Zaffuto the best of luck in spreading Addiopizzo throughout Sicily and Italy.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that tourists have to worry about being caught in the crossfire.
I have not read John Dickie's book (or his book on food which also sounds interesting!) but will put it on my list thanks to your recommendation, "Humpty!"
I did read Gomorrah, the film version of which was the subject of at least one thread here a few years back. (As Jean knows!!)

I think there are some worries for tourists, just not from the usual nightmare of bullets flying. The Cammora is involved in illegal dumping of toxins, some of which are ending up in the food supply locally in Italy and elsewhere in Europe due to the export of tainted animal feed. There was a big story a couple of years ago about tainted mozzarella, and just last summer there was another massive recall.
If it's in the animal feed and at least one locally-made product, it isn't much of a stretch to think the toxins are present in other food items.
