Do you think this itinerary will be too tiring or will it be ok? My FI and I want some relaxation but we are adventurers as well. We are leaving the next night after our wedding in late October. We will fly into Venice and out of Rome. All suggestions are welcome

We spent our honeymoon in italy, you will love it! I'd add a day to Venice, you want at least 2 nights to relax and enjoy and explore. Is Verona a must see for you?
2 nights Florence is good.
3 nights Tuscany- you will have a rental car correct? You can do 2 nights in SanG and 2 nights down by Montalcino then turn the car in when you get to Rome.
Tuscany was our favorite part!

It seems somewhat busy, but doable I think. I like that you've allocated entire days to train travel...even though a particular trip may not be that long, there's the time needed to get to/from the train, pack/unpack at the hotel, etc.

It also seems like you're flying into Venice and out of Rome, which is great.

I did not find all that much to do in San Gimignano, but this might be one of your "relaxation" times. There's SO much to do in Rome - not sure how flexible your schedule is, but maybe you could take one day from San Gim and add it to Rome? Just a thought...

Drop Verona and you have a nice trip. You need more than 1.5 days in Venice. The rest looks good. Have fun !

I agree with dropping Verona, but you do not need more than one night in San Gimignano if you get there by about 3:00 p.m.

Add the additional nights to Venice and Florence, unless you rent a car and spend the time discovering the hill towns of Tuscany.

Thanks for your helpful suggestions. I think we will drop Verona as suggested and add another night in Venice. I agree; I think the itinerary has too much travelling in the beginning of the HM. We'll probably be so exhausted from the wedding...and Venice might be a blur in our memories We will have a private Tuscany tour for 8 hours on Day 8 and get dropped off at San Gimingnano.

I agree with just one stay in San Gim. or maybe just visit as can be done in 1/2 day and travel further down to Siena and stay over it's bigger and probably has more to do, but San Gim is a lovely place to visit.

Think your fear that Venice will be a blur is very justified -- you may be underestimating jetlag and, certainly, wedding fatigue. Too bad, since it is so very romantic and special! Also think you're going to be kind of cross-eyed from all the inter-city travel, even though your young and adventurous.

Do you already have your plane tickets? If not, I might suggest reversing the order -- more time at the beginning in one place (to allow at least one day in full down-time), in Rome, and end up in Venice as the high point (so to speak) of the trip. (Or ask airline what's involved in reversing order?)

Otherwise, dropping Verona's a good idea, glad you've decided to do that.

I agree with Cassandra. If you haven't purchased your tix yet, I'd flip it as well. We ended our honeymoon in Venice last year and it is a wonderful way to end the trip... It's so unique and extremely romantic. Good luck! -- h.

Thanks for the excellent suggestions. We haven't purchased plane tickets yet but thought we'd do the Rome part last since November starts the low season on hotel costs. We decided to take a night off of San Gim based on all of your suggestions and add another day to either Rome or Florence.
