Train from Berlin to Prague, stop off in Dresden?

We plan to take the train from Berlin to Prague in May and would like to stop off in Dresden for a few hours. Do we need to buy separate tickets Berlin to Dresden and Dresden to Prague?

No. If you travel with standard tickets you just hop off the train in Dresden and take another train a few hours later.

However, most people travel with saver tickets from www.bahn.de between Berlin and Prague, which are cheaper, but that means you have a fix schedule, trains are fix. To stop for a few hours in Dresden click on "further search option", then you must enter the stopover in Dresden and the hours.
