Hello,
My sister and I were thinking of a trip to Andalusia roughly Dec. 22 to Dec. 29 or 30th. Before I get into any further research, can anyone tell me if this is a decent time to go? My concerns were the weather and the holidays themselves. I live in Florida and don't expect warm weather, but would be ok with it being a little chilly -- but not if it's freezing or snowing that time of year.

Additionally, would Christmas time be busy (hard to get hotel reservation, etc.)?

I have friends who went to Ronda early January and had snow. My daughter spent one late December-January in Granada and said the weather was sunny and they were able to sit ouside during the day. But we're from Sydney where good winter weather is similar - certainly not tropical like Florida. I found Granada quite cold in early April, with winds off the snow-covered Sierra Nevada.
Re accommodation: If you booked soon I don't think it would be too much of a problem. We booked Spanish accommodation in early January for a March-April Easter.

It doesn't snow in Malaga since 1954. In Ronda and Granada cities snows once or twice along the winter, and snow lasts a few hours. The Sierra Nevada is covered, it is a ski station. In Malaga when sunny can be warm enough to wear only shirt and jacket, but as well may be cloudy and chilly. I hope this gives you an idea.

Andalusia is BIG, so it will depend on where you are going in Andalusia. Also weather is fickle, so one never knows for sure.

We found the coldest and rainiest time in Andalucia happened at Semana Santa in Seville. Yet we had been there in early March when it was great.

There are different micro climates, so some areas will get more rain than others ( or snow in the mountains). We could see the snow on the nearby mountains, but were happy in t-shirts.


We never wore a winter jacket all winter long in our part of Andalusia and had little rain and mostly sunny days ( altho a few cold nights where warm sweaters were needed inside our very cool house).


People do come just for xmas, so book early for the best choices altho there should be lots available.
