We are planning a trip to Southern Spain for a week beginning January 3rd. I would appreciate information about weather. Thank you.

I was in Southern Spain (Sevilla) in mid February, and it was pleasant and mild. At times, no jacket/coat needed, but nights a bit cooler. Not swimming/sunbathing weather, but excellent travel weather. Not sure about early Jan, but I'd recommend it.

Two years ago I was in Seville in February. Two days were sunny and warm, the rest grey and cool. Last January I was in Almeria and it was cold all the time (though they did say it was the worst winter in 40 years) I wore a winter coat every day. So it's difficult to predict. It could be sunny (and warm) or not sunny (and quite cool).

We were there in early December. Granada had some snow. Sevilla was great. Malaga was pretty nice too. I think you should expect it to be a little cold but not as bad as the DC area.

That is good to hear as we will be moving back to the DC area after living for a year in England.
