An apartment is much cheaper in Venice!

I just replyed to someone comparing hotels for over $300. I am telling you that I got what I'd compare to a suite for $150 a nt. with Venice Rentals. I rented an aparment from them as I saw a write up in another guidebook about them by a Barrie Kerper, it was of a collected series.

Their site is venicerentals.com
The owners are Denise and Maurice and were super nice and soooo helpful. They picked us up and brought us to our place. They also gave great restaurant recommendations and names of shops owned by friends for special discounts (which we took advantage of).
When I originally wrote them back in July or so, they sent me 6 or 7 choices for our dates and I must say, they all seemed like bargains compared to the ridiculous hotel prices over there.
A huge thumbs up to Venicerentals.com!
susanne
I've read elsewhere that venice rentals is reliable, and I'm glad you also enjoyed your experience. I would keep them in mind should I decide to rent a flat sometime.

Sometimes though, travelers prefer hotel services and are willing to pay the premium for that. In other cases visitors only want to stay a day or two and apartment rentals usually require a minimum stay.

Hi Susanne: How far ahead did you plan your accommodations with venice rentals? I noticed they don't have many specific photos on their website. Do you have pics of places that are available? Also, what time of the year go, and how was the weather? Thanks!

This is great news! We stayed in a hotel for 6 nights while in Venice this last October. All the while it seemed an apartment might be the way to go especially because,as mostfolks who have been there know, the food is expensive and not necessarily worth the expense. Do you know if they have apartments in Campo San Margherita area?
