Amsterdam: Which hotel would you pick?

Hi,
I have gotten such great recommendations from everyone. What a great site this is. But, now I have so many great choices I am more confused than ever!!

My husband and I are 40-50's, pretty casual, don't need bells and whistles, but want a nice well priced place for 4 nights in May. A TV would be nice, but not really important. Location is the most important next to price.

Here are the contenders: Hotel Brouwer, Hotel Hestia, Maes Bed and Breakfast, Acro Hotel and Hotel de Munck.

How about a first choice and a second choice? Thank you so much! I can't wait to see what is chosen!!

We stayed in the Avenue Hotel near central station, and found it very central and clean, and safe.

Although I'm not familiar with the other hotels mentioned, we had a great experience at Hotel Hestia.

The price is reasonable. The room had a television (I believe with BBC) and a mini-refrigerator. There is also a small elevator, so you won't have to drag your luggage up four flights of stairs. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Hestia is a five-minute (or less) walk from the Leidseplein, which is a city transportation hub, as well as a great place to hang out. The hotel is also within a few minutes walking of the museum district and the Vondelpark.

It is also a few blocks from Overtoom street, which has a number of international car rental offices (Hertz, etc.), and leads directly to one of the major highways into and out of the city. So if you are picking a car up when you leave Amsterdam, or returning a car when you enter Amsterdam, Hestia is a convenient location and the nearby car rental offices allow you to avoid expensive airport surcharges.

I stayed in the Avenue Hotel about 6 years ago, and found it to be perfectly fine, but I've heard and read on several forums that its gone downhill ever since! My husband and I are going to Amsterdam in March ( he doesnt know this, its a surprise birthday present) and i'm in a bit of a pickle wondering which hotel to choose, The Arco, The Hestia, and The Fita seem to be the most popular, if anyone has been to at least one of these and has maybe heard good reviews on another let me know their opinion, thanks in advance.
