Well I went very cheaply. I had reserved a flight on EasyJet from Gatwick to Amsterday and the flight was 6 hours late. When an EasyJet flight is more than 4 hours late, they refund your fare (not the taxes) so including transport from London to Gatwick, the trip ran something like $32...of course you can't count on the flight behing more than 4 hours late...

But seriously, Easyjet is a good way to go as the earlier you book and the less popular the time is, the cheaper your fare.....

As well as easyjet Buzz (buzzaway.com) have recently started flying to Amsterdam so yippee its a price war.

BMI (flybmi.com) have also started cutting the cost of Amsterdam flights - they are a bit more expensive than EasyJet and Buzz, but they fly from Heathrow which is about £20 less to get to by train than either Stansted, Gatwick or Luton. aerfares.net gives comparisions across routes and by different carrier.

Pretty sure there should be some bargains on BA as well.
