(he is l9)-ok he wants to know if you are referring to the Meridien Apollo Hotel, this is in the moderate price range--he says it caters more to international business people than the leisure traveler-it is away from the excitement of downtown Amsterdam.

I don't know about the Meridien HOtel, however, we were in Amsterdam last year and stayed at The Tulip Inn, on Spuuistrat (spelling?). It is located in the University Area. THe Hotel was quite nice by American standards. The first nite we were in a small double room (our room wasn't available) and we moved to a king size bedroom. The room was very large, bathroom small, but modern & everything was extremely clean. I was extremely impressed with the hotel and would stay there again. The staff were most accomodating and the breakfast great. It was convenient to the "trolley", and walking distance to many points. It waswas agreatlocation. The cost was about $115 anite. Have great trip!!

we were there for 10 nights last march. we stayed at the tulip inn dam square. it is a really neat hotel located behind new church. there also is a brown pub next door. the hotel has a lot of history. always check out the room before you decide to stay. have fun. amsterdam is a wonderful city to walk in. it is also amazing how many folks ride bikes from young to old back and forth to work. my daughter-in-law and i made the trip two times last year.
