AMSTERDAM - PARIS
Hi everyone...I enjoy reading all of the post via this sight, as it was very helpful when we traveled to St Lucia last November. We are traveling to Amsterdam the end of March through the 7th of APR and I need to know if anyone has stayed at The Waterfront Hotel (residential area)or Hotel Di Ann? Also, does a Dutch bkfst consist of? and lastly, it seems easy to travel from AMS to Paris, how much is the train and how long a ride?

Thanks for your help and the advice.

I looked at the Waterfront Hotel for our March trip. I understand it has new owners and may well be quite charming. I ended up choosing the Hotel Agora [which is next door I think] because it had more of a track record. But I'm going to take a look while we're there and will happily report back on both hotels.

Sorry. I missed the train part of your question. From what I can see [and what we're doing] the Thalys is the way to go. You can find information and order tickets at www.raileurope.com. I think the Thalys site is www.thalys.com.

Dutch breakfast is invariably a buffet, usually consisting of fruit, cereal, various egg formats, various hams, cheeses, sausage, various breads, toast, friut juice, coffee etc.(sometimes coffee is served at your table)This happens in 2* and 5* places.
Something for everyone!

Bad people bag some for lunch...if you see my girlfriend you'll know her, she's the one wearing the cycling cape.

We took that train ride (the other direction). It takes a few hrs (i don't remeber exactly but you can check the schedule on the thaly's web site, about 3 hrs). We bought our tickets at the train station the morning we left. Very easy and convenient. We picked food for the ride. I think you can buy food on the train but we didn't bother.
