Editorial Intervention BY REQUEST!

On some other boards with which I am familiar there is an option in the "reply" etc, category that allows you to request an IMMEDIATE intervention, or at least, a look see, by an Editor. There is thread happening on this board right now that to my mind calls for this sort of review. Is this a possibility BEFORE this sort of thing flames out of hand? Admittedly this is more a problem on some other Forums than the Europe one, but every so often we do get highjacked by some very emotional posters on issues which seem to have nothing to do with travel.

Why are you being so "coy" about naming the thread you don't particularly like?

I did not intend to be coy-my point is NOT to be specific but to be general. Today's overheated discussion is not the first or the last where this facility (of signalling an Editor to an ugly thread BEFORE it gets totally out-of-hand) might come in handy.

Threads only get out of hand when posters attack the premise or "validity" of the topic (rather than its substance), or attack the poster rather than the post content.

If you don't like the premise, don't join in. I have never posted to a TV or celebrity or game thread, because I'm simply not interested.

Do thou likewise, and we'll all get along.

I can't think of anything more important to travelers than making provision for the welfare of themselves and their loved ones when the excrement hits the ventilator.

My suggestion to you, LJ, is ... See where it says email this page under the Title? Email this page to the [email protected].
This is the best way to talk to the editors.

It's just an internet board, the people who work on Fodors do probably have work to do and other things, they can't babysit this board every minute.

If you don't like what a thread is saying, why do you persist on reading it?

I don't think "editors" have much to do with monitoring this forum, they are busy editing. They hire some low-level tech guys (who may be asleep in Australia or wherever) to monitor it.

BTW the boards where they have immediate emergency 911 response are usually real time "chat forums" (or maybe IMs), not messages posted for people to read.
