Amsterdam Marriott Hotel Choices...help!

My wife and I will be traveling to Amsterdam in the near future and I would be using my Marriott Points for the hotel.
Amsterdam offers two Marriott properties...the Marriot Hotel and the Renaissance Hotel.
I was wondering if anyone can provide an updated review on which of these two properties would be the best selection?
Thank you to anyone who responds!
Walt

DH stayed at the Marriott hotel in A'dam and said it was great; good location, updated and comfortable.

Both are fine hotels. The Renaissance isnot too far from central station, close to the shopping area.
Marriott hotel is close to Leidseplein and also not too far to Rijksmuseum and van Goghmuseum.
Since public transport is good and many places are walking distance, it doesnot make that much difference.

The Renaissance has been retrofitted from older buildings in an older part of town. It has more of an "Old Europe" feel to it. Rooms are smaller and more quirky. The Marriott is a typical Marriott. I prefer the Renaissance myself, but would not hate the Marriott.
