Amsterdam Last Minute Trip
Going to Amsterdam in three days and staying four! Looking for very central hotel, as inexpensive as possible, of course, but more importantly since last minute, a place where we can walk/tram to must sees (Anne Frank for me). From reviews, the Owl Hotel or Hotel Brouwer, seem like possibilities. Any suggestions from all of you experts?
As long as you're suggesting hotels, how about restaurants that aren't fancy....just good food?
THANKS!

I was going with Brouwer and Owl. If not I'd use trip advisor in the map function along some of the older canals. For instance there is a great greek bakery to the south of Brouwer which does late afternoon suppers, very good and great value.

this is the cheapest regular restaurant and one of the most famous - an institution - one fixed menu but down home Dutch food and great central location.

You guys (gals?) are great! Any more tips? I am kind of scrambling which is better than re-thinking if we should go at all but figured this is too good a chance of traveling since airline daughter's good passes are finished by end of month. Kind of our last harrah.

been going to Amsterdam annually or more for decades - here are some of my tips that include low-costs meals like a Rijstafel perhaps - and comments of many others who added in great stuff!

PalenQ: Thanks so much. Love rijstafel - friends introduced us to it when we were neighbors in NY. We are staying at the Owl Hotel (near Marriott) on Leide (?) Do you know of anything near that area for good Dutch food?
