bunnywine: Welcome to Fodors. The OP has never returned to the thread so probably isn't looking. But just an FYI -- airbnb's are a VERY bad idea in Amsterdam. Most are illegal.

Second up the advice about rentals in Amsterdam and will add no matter which site they are listed on.

use booking.com and filter results. Newly built hotels will have the best elevators.

Not all Uber users do it for price reasons - easy ordering/payment are also considerations.

I get into a cab and pay with a credit card or cash. Sorryu, but I am not buying the whole "it is only about convenience" routine Uber and Lyft users throw out as they take away jobs.
