Amsterdam Hotel for Xmas

Hi All. My mom and I are spending Christmas evening in Amsterdam before flying to US on December 26. Would love a hotel recommendation that places us in a location where we can walk around and soak up the canals at night as we know nothing will be open and neither of us have been to Amsterdam before. Also, we will need to eat that evening. So my thought is that a higher end hotel (or boutique) with a restaurant would be a good idea. Unless anyone knows of restaurants that are open that evening, then that expands options.

Thank you!!!

Restaurants will do their special christmas menus: you'll need to book in advance, even if it's a hotel restaurant. Look around a little on booking.com or similar. You can filer for budget, review score, area, etc. For Amsterdam: anything within the canal ring will be good, avoid the Red Light District though.

We enjoy staying in tne Central Canal area at Hotel L’Ambassade, on the Herengracht Canal.
You can book a room with a canal view.

Maybe check out https://hotelvnesplein.nl

It is not on a canal but in the very center of the city and on a quiet side street. My room was large, they have a nice restaurant and bar on site, and I'm sure they do special things for Christmas -- I was there over King's Day and when I went up to my room the evening before there was a crown and sweets on the bed with the turn down service. The desk staff were very helpful.

If you do opt for Hotel V on Nes, know that there are many restaurants on that street: De Brakke Grond, Kapitein Zeppos, Mappa, Atelier du Champagne, to name but a few. They'll start advertising for their christmas dinners around October, so make sure you can contact a few and book. My favorite would be Kapitein Zeppos, There's also a micro brewery, at the spot where Harkema used to be.

We stayed across the street, at a much simpler hotel (The Hotel Residence le Coin, https://www.lecoin.nl/en), which we liked a lot for our 5-night family stay.

These hotels face a canal, and might be a good splurge for Christmas Eve: the Hotel de l'Europe and Hotel Doelan

If you decide on De l'Europe, book their restaurant now.

We were in Amsterdam recently and stayed at the Banks Mansion Hotel. Excellent hotel in a great location.
Right on the corner of a canal. Easy walk to all the sights.

Breakfast is included and they have a wine and cheese party late every afternoon.

You don't say how long you'll be in Amsterdam or the time of your flight.
We were in Amsterdam for 6 days and our flight left at about 10:00 AM.

We stayed in Amsterdam on our last day and went to the airport late in the evening after dinner the night before the flight. We had a reservation at the Sheraton that's the first hotel from the airport terminal. The hotel is connected to the terminal. The next morning we just got up and walked into the terminal. No traffic delays or anything.
