Amsterdam Hotel and Bed/Breakfast Suggestions

My wife and I will be in Amsterdam in mid-June, and are looking for advice or websites for clean and affordable ($140 euros max //night if possible) hotels or B&B's in Amsterdam. We would like to be as close to the downtown centre as possible. We have never been there before, so any advice is appreciated. We will be driving there from Brugge. Thank you.

We stayed in their apartments right next door. Amazing!

I've stayed in Amsterdam more than a dozen times, both on business and pleasure.

I found this hotel that I loved. It's called the Owl Hotel. Note that breakfast is included in the rate.

It's situated on a quiet street, but less than 5 minute walk to the Leidesplein. You can catch a ton of trolleys there.

It's also less than a 10 minute walk to the Museumplein. The Van Gogh museum is my favorite, but the others are also quite good.

As the street is a dead-end street, you can park on the street near the hotel.

You are near a nice shopping area and an easy walk to the Sama Sebo Restaurant. http://www.samasebo.nl/en/

We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Fita. It is not a luxury hotel but was clean and comfortable and well located very near the museums. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and served a delicious breakfast. We would happily return.
