Amsterdam City Pass?

I am debating getting City Pass for Amsterdam. Does anyone know more about the canal boat rides included and does the entry into the VanGogh museum have limitations? Also, does anyone have a tour guide/company they would recommend for the VanGogh? Just looking for people with experience in using the city pass.

I've not used the pass, but the tourist office site mentions a couple of things..
- only one canal boat ride
- only one entry per sight/museum
- may be small surcharge if there is a special exhibit being held
- you can't enter as a group (priority over the line), the pass is for individuals
- Van Gogh museum has a 'fast pass' line
- Free Canal Cruise: Choose between Blue Boat Company or Holland International
Didn't see any limits as to time of day or that sort of thing for when you could visit a place

I used the City Pass in Amsterdam about two years ago. At that time, it did include the boat tour but the VanGogh museum was just for the general museum, you had to pay an additional fee for the special exhibits.

For the Van Gogh you can hire an excellent audio guide. It costs €5.
If you want a personal tour then have a look at www.arttra.nl.

I would say buy a pass, especially if there are more things you wish to do besides the boatride and the museum. If you only have time for these two things and want to use public transport, you would pay euro36 for 24 hours and it would be cheaper than buying a pass. But I think it's really up to what you want to visit and how much time you have in Amsterdam
