Amsterdam canal tour suggestions

I will be in Amsterdam with my family in June and would like to take a canal tour. Is there a preferred location or company to use? Would love any suggestions.

Thanks

The last couple of times we've been in A'dam we've enjoyed the Those Dam Boat Guys tours. Kind of hokey, but entertaining and somewhat irreverent and you can bring food and drinks onboard.

As soon as I saw your post headline, I felt compelled to jump in with a reply, having visited Amsterdam in early April of this year. Alas, StCirq beat me to the punch, with a recommendation that I wholeheartedly second! Our Those Dam Boat Guys tour was one of the highlights of the trip. Small nimble craft, small group, very entertaining host who seemed to anticipate every question that we had, and mesmerized all onboard with the history, culture and legend of this excellent city. Can't praise this tour company enough!

If you haven't already booked, I highly recommend checking out Pure Boats Canal Tour. It was the highlight of our stay in Amsterdam this past fall.

Check whether your non-official boat tour co is still sailing after new rules for them come into effect later this year

We'll see how it goes: on the news this morning a mention of private owners of boats protesting against the runaway growth of tour companies like Those Dam Boat Guys.

I'd make sure the boat cruise goes out into the Harbor and around back on another canal - get a great view of Amsterdam's historic facade from the Harbor. Some boats don;t go thru - some go thru the red-light district too.

Classic Canal Cruise in a salon boat. Perfect.
