I read in a current travel booklet that in the City of Amsterdam ATM's are available but most shops do not accept Credit cards / Check Cards. Does anyone know if this is still true or have more merchants subscribed to the credit cards? I shutter at the tought of having to carry travel cash around.

I was in Amsterdam in May and had no problems using a credit card or finding an ATM.

I go to Amsterdam several times a year. Always use a credit card. No problem.

This past June I stayed at a small 3-star hotel out near Leidseplein. They did not accept credit cards.<BR>

Perhaps I can relax then...Thank you very much for your replies.
