Amsterdam - about a hotel

We will be arriving in Amsterdam on April 28th and are planning on staying at the Asterisk Hotel for three nights.

Would like to know if anyone has stayed in this hotel, if so, your experience please and if it is close to the tourists places i.e. museums etc.,

Thank you,
Norman

Have you tried a google search for Asterisk Hotel Amsterdam? From the maps you are very close to the museums but a good walk to the red light district.

Amsterdam is a very compact city and virtually flat(like the rest of Holland) so you can walk long distances.

Thank you for your response. I now know where the hotel is situated. I just want to know if anyone has stayed in the Asterisk hotel and if they enjoyed staying there.

I hope someone out there will respond with the feedback.
Thanks,
Norman

Hi, there'll probably be more experienced posters who can help, but have you checked tripadvisor.com in the meantime for comments?

I've stayed across the street at the Hotel Kap. It's a real quiet neighboorhood 24 hours a day. There's deli/sandwich shop, cafe, snack bar, and bakery in the 2 block walk to the tram stop. Leidseplein and Museumplein are within a 10 minute walk, but I always get a tram pass since Dam Square, RLD, and Centraal Station are about a 30 minute walk from the Kap/Asterisk.

There's some web surfer written reviews at channels.nl ...use the A to Z button to read them.

donata50, do you know that April 30 is a national holiday in the Netherlands called "Queen's Day". The entire city of Amsterdam turns into a huge playground / garage sale / street party / complete madness, and normal transport in the city center becomes impossible? If you like big parties and *lots* of people, you'll have a great time, if you don't you better do a day trip outside of Amsterdam and ask your hotel how to leave the city. Have a nice stay!
