AMS Museum Hotel in Amsterdam

Please tell me what do you think about this hotel and its location (P.C. Hooftstraat). We are looking for a hotel that is not too expensive (under US $150.00), near some museums, restaurants and public transportation. We do not care for nightlife and trying to find not too noisy location
Any other sugesstions will be welcomed.

Is that a Best Western? I thought it was. I tried to stay there once as I was in Amsterdam and wanted to move hotel and checked it out; it was pretty nice and in a great area, but was booked so I couldn't. I stayed in another Best Western nearby, the Terdam which was outstanding. That is a great location, within walking distance to museums, near a tram line, restaurants nearby and not too noisy as you want. I think both would be fine (my experience was about 10 years ago, though, so there is that caveat if they've perhaps changed drastically).

Thank you Christina. Yes, it is a Best Western. You gave me information I waited for. Thank you
Anyone stayed in the Museum Hotel or Terdam recently?

We recently booked reservations at the Best Western Hotel "Terdam" which is not too far from the museums and Leidesplein for the week of July 1, 2001. It sounded like an ideal location and had pretty good rates. We stayed in that area last year at the Marriott and loved it. The Terdam couldn't accommodate us for our 7th night so we cancelled and opted to rent a houseboat from Amsterdam House on a canal in the city center! We don't expect it to be quiet but it certainly will be an exciting experience. I think most of the Best Western hotels would be a good bet, though. When are you going? I found a great map at Barnes & Noble that I used on our last trip. It's B&B City Streets Amsterdam City Map (by Berndtson & Berndtson). It's a large foldable map that's laminated and is WONDERFUL --- about $8.00. It worked extremely well. This trip I've customized it with stick on dots with our favorite points of interest! I love it. I'll post a message when I return to let you know how things went.

I can heartly recommmend the Ambassade Hotel, well located, within your price range, and occupying 2 or 3 canal houses. Very quiet, very clean, and very, very nice.
