Amount of money for 10 days in Sorrento/Amalfi Coast
Hello, Can anyone give me an idea of how much spending money (not including hotel) I should have available for a 10-day trip to Sorrento/Amalfi Coast in September. I am traveling with a friend and it won't be super low budget, but it won't be too extravagant either. Just middle of the road. My guess is that most of the money will be spent on food, wine, travel (ferry/bus), and some low-budget souvenirs. I know things are expensive, and it's hard to guess, but if someone can give me a ballpark figure, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

You can travel at almost any price point - and someone's middle of the road is someone else's budget - or splurge.
For comparison assume every will cost bout 30% more than in the US for the same type of meal. Soft drinks are very tiny and very expensive - but basic wine is cheaper than in US.
When we have been there bkfst was included in the hotel. We would assume about 25 euros each for a modest lunch and 50 euros each for a basic dinner (appetizer, main course, wine and espresso). We also do a splurge dinner in most cities and for that figure about 250 euros for 2.
Note that fish is sold by weight - not be portion - so may be much more expensive then it seems from the menu.
Also, portions are generally quite a bit smaller than in the US (better for me I often can't finish a meal here).

$200 = 154 euros (today). IMO, that might work for some days and not for others. It depends on your plans. Small numbers of euros can add up. Costs for bus/ferry/train rides, entry fees, etc., are fixed (and you can look them up), but you can almost always find a cheap(er) option for a particular meal. You just have to look around. As nytraveler pointed out, breakfast is often included in the room rate, but you should find out for sure before you determine your budget.
I would probably budget 200 euros a day ($260) and perhaps not spend it all.

If you plan to go to several museums and archeological sites throughout the region, you might look to see if buying the Campania Artecard would save you money on the entry fees. It doesn't cover public transportation.

Get an idea of the sites/museums you want to see and their entrance fees, and estimate an amount per day for transit (lookup ferry/train/taxi fees).
Set your own budget that you are comfortable with and allot yourself X amount per day. It'll average out, some days a bit more, some days less.
You'll feel better when you come home and you haven't gone into debt for your trip!
