American Express ad

Do the American Express ads on Fodors irritate anyone else? I am getting ticked off seeing that louvered window open and close every second.

Would you prefer to PAY to post here and generate even more revenue for the company?

Did I say that? I'm just saying the ads are irritating.

I guess it is to be expected that someone with the handle "francophile03" would be against free-market capitalism

*ducks*

Hi F,

Do you have a popup blocker?

I'm not getting those ads.

I think the AMEX is rather interesting. On my screen it is not a popup ad, it is just on the right side of my screen. It is when the Marriott ad does popup and covers the screen that I get annoyed, especially since I am not fond of the Mariott hotels anyway.

Just like commercials on television, I hardly notice them.

I think this is the first time I've seen Peter here?

I'm not seeing it either. All I'm getting is a Delta ad on the right side.

yep I have the Marriott ad as well and it slides over and covers up part of the posts for a few seconds...very annoying. Actually I would rather pay a modest fee.

Animated ads make me cranky and help me to decide not to buy or use whatever is being advertised.

FlyerTalk, another board I haunt, offers two versions. For a small annual fee, you see no ads.

Bronxzilla, it seems to me you have something personal against me.

Hi francophile, I think Peter was joshing you, note his "ducks"..sometimes humor does not always comes across as well with the written word as it can in speaking face to face. And sometimes it doesn't face to face either.

I have had that darn Mariott ad back again the last few minutes. Very very irritating!! And that is no joke!!

I don't get his types of jokeless jokes at all. Thanks LoveItaly for pointing that out. I guess I could have responded 'I guess it is to be expected that someone with the handle "bronxzilla"...'

I could seriously argue that the Bronx has contributed more to world culture than France. Maybe some other day....

I think it was an ad hominem attack - - a cornerstone example of what Fodors says it does not want to tolerate - - and here ot is, from the voice of Fodors.

I'm sure that a post soon will be placed here to say that this discussion needs to be carried over to the News and Announcements "forum". Wher it is out of sight, and out of mind.

It feels like we have a new student teacher aasigned to go "deal with the kids causing trouble out on the playground". And lo and behold, the student tracher is the newest participant in the spitball throwing.

Best wishes,

Rex

rex: clearly you failed to see the intended humor in my post. If you can't make fun of France's statist economy, then most topics are going to be off limits.

I beseech thee to chill out,
Peter

Hi francophile, I have a young cousin (quite the computer expert btw) that has Peter's sense of humor. But I must say that most people do not get his jokes. And then his feeling are hurt.

Having said that I will say that I do not enjoy having a Fodor employee jump into the threads in the manner that we have been seeing lately however. Sorry Peter!

The Marriott ad is driving me crazy, and it isn't a long trip. I too would pay to get rid of that nasty thing spreading all over the postings I'm trying to read. It is the most irritating thing.

Is he a Fodors employee? Then he should adhere to the same policies as the rest of us if he chooses to post comments. Sounds like a conflict of interest somewhere.
