Amboise to CDG ariport

We will be spending 2 nights in Amboise after 6 nights in Paris. Is it a bad idea to drive directly from Amboise to CDG the morning of our flight? Our plane leaves at 1 pm. How long should we anticipate for the drive and do you think there will be traffic outside of Paris as we travel toward the airport? Any advice would be appreciated.

What day of the week would it be - weekends better, especially Sundays. But when do you have to be at CDG? Consider returning the car at the nearby Saint-Pierre-des-Corps station and taking TGV bullet train into Paris and stay the night - or start your car trip very early.

Oh trains can be very cheap if you book far enough in advance to garner limited-in-number discounted fares - www.voyages-sncf.com for self-booking or www.thetrainline.eu - many say easier to get to work for Americans at least. For lots on French trains - www.seat61.com - great advice on discounted ticketing; general info -www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com.

But consider riding one of the world's fastest trains - nearby 200 mph - may even save money by a day of car rental and gas and predatorily high autoroute tolls.

We will be traveling on Thursday morning. I guess we would have to be at the airport about 3 hrs before flight time- around 10 am. I would have to change all my hotels if I come back to Paris the night before. I think I would lose money on one of the hotels in Paris.

When people who live in Amboise go to CDG, they just get up early and drive. Allow 3 hours en route and be mindful of the traffic. Consider taking A86 or even A104 to the east around Paris. If you take A104, use N2 and enter CDG from the east side.
