The most bogus contest I have ever seen in my life. After the gate was closed and the jetway retracted, "if the pilot says it's okay." This race was fixed. I am appalled.
|
Yesssss! Finally J/U get a prize! What an intense, exciting finish!!! I can't believe that they just didn't run in and pay the cabbie later. Maybe they didn't know that, that was the end.
PS. But I still think it is unfair that one team in the last leg has to start out with no $. It seems that at that point it should be an even playing field. Did you notice the rather tepid applause of everyone when Romber came in. All that back-stabbing wasn't received so well by their team-mates. But everyone was so ecstatic that Joyce and Uchenna won!! |
Well, I certainly hope it wasn't fixed. I am delighted with the outcome. For once, the nice guys finished first!
|
Now that I've wiped away the tears of joy and can see my keyboard and screen, all I can say it JUSTICE PREVAILED. I couldn't be happier. The nicest, kindest and fairest, not to mention the team who really needed the money, won. This is fabulous, especially after the bad taste last year's ending left in my mouth!
And the wedding...I'd rather walk through hot coals than watch those two egotistical, smug, arrogant idiots tie the knot. They deserve each other. |
good guys do finish first. UJ were the most honest team to win any TAR or any reality show maybe. just awesome how they fought through the worst possible scenario to end up winning...
the only ? is about reopening the tunnel...seemed odd, but it kept the race from being a runaway. |
I'm glad they won. They deserved it so much after exhibiting such amazing sportsmanship, and grace, in the game. I sat on the edge of my seat watching them beg for the money, and was shocked Uchenna was so concerned about the cabbie getting paid in full and didn't try to talk just offer to mail him twice the fair once he got home. Romber would have hopped out and said, "See ya." Hell, I would've said "see ya" too for a cool million dollars.
I would have been happy if either Romber or UJ had one, but I do think the team with more heart and soul won this time. As long as Team White Trash didn't win. |
DEFINITELY the BEST and most deserving team ever to win this race, possibly to ever win ANY reality TV show! Chip and Kim were great from 2 seasons ago, but I think this season beats that! I could have sworn Rob and Amber were going to do it! But their luck finally ran out. That would have TOTALLY sucked if Uchena and Joyce had lost just because that idiot cab driver wouldn't let them go!
|
I'm not upset that Joyce and Uechenna won -- they were certainly deserving (as were the other 2 teams), but sorry, I've never in my LIFE heard of a plane re-opening a gate to allow boarding of a single couple. Can you say "Fixed?" But, then we all ate it up with a spoon -- we love to be bamboozled and the sponsors were certainly happy; everybody making money hand over fist.
TAR8 will be quite the let-down without Rob and Amber. Ho-hum; why watch when the best competitors have already played...? But all in all, it was TAR7 was one extremely entertaining show. |
Regarding paying the cabbie, is it possible they have a rule that says you can't stiff anyone?
He also could have said (unless also against the rules), "I'm about to win a million bucks. Let me go now and I'll mail you $100 when I get home." |
I'm debating on the fix regarding the door being re-opened. Part of me agrees with the fix but another part of me is wondering what power having a professional camera crew following you around provides. You've got to think that has opened other doors during the race.

Perhaps American Airlines took too much grief when their agent lied to the contestants in Amazing Race 6 about their flight being the next one to Chicago. Word could have gotten around the company to be more helpful when couples with live camera crews are flying. Keith |
I have been on planes where the door has been reopened, it happens....the reasons in this case-who knows, but it happens.
I don't care if it is fixed-it is t-e-l-e-v-i-s-i-o-n and it did what it is supposed to do-entertain me....and the message they sent (real or not) that if you act with respect and integrity, you will win in the end. The sitution of paying the cab driver and them choosing to "do the right thing" whether they had to or not is a powerful and much needed message for many viewers I think. A victory for the good guys ! |
I'm so happy Joyce and Uchenna won, but the ability to get on a closed flight was 'amazing'.
In the recap of the season, once again they showed Kelly saying Ron got out of his committment to the Army by being a POW. That's the 4th time. At the beginning, Rob said something smug (gee, really) about being in first and being ahead of everyone. Similar to when he was at the airport 2 episodes before, believing he was ahead, but really he was behind. And I thought to myself, Foreshadowing? Anyway, Kelly needs to learn the name of 'left' and 'right'. She's in the backseat pointing right and says to turn left. Maybe Ron doesn't want to commit in general, maybe he doesn't want to commit to Kelly, but some guys need to have it told in plain, simple language that they need to make the committment. |
Not that I'm a big fan of Ron's, but if I were him I'd run as fast as I could away from Kelly.
Anyway, last night's finish was poetic justice. The head shaving, the finishing first twice with no prize, the constant aid to Gretchen and Meredith, the flat tire - it all paid off in the end. Saludos, Uchenna and Joyce - you deserve it. |
It was great to see Joyce and Uchenna win. It was interesting to see that even with $1 million so close, J and U were still concerned about doing the right and ethical thing, not stiffing the cab driver. So nice to see that you can play the game with good ethics and still win. Romber got a big dose of Karma last night.
|
IMHO, you bet it was 'fixed' last night. You have to believe that the producers had something to do with getting U and J on that flight, otherwise the end would have been pretty boring. Face it, if they hadn't been on that flight, Rob and Amber would have won in a runaway. Got to admit, the ending was exciting.
|
I think that in the past, they've actually traveled around the world. This time, they got as far as India, and then headed back West.
The door of the airliner being re-opened was a little weird. But it was entertaining. |
DEEEEEEEEElighted!
About the plane door: I've been on no fewer than 3 flights when the door was reopened for someone -- almost always a self-appointed VIP, though, so I also am willing to consider the thought that the producers intervened to keep the race tight. As I've said before, I do think the producers tinker with things -- particularly air travel -- when it suits their idea of how the race should go. But congrats Joyce and Uchenna! And Ron and Kelly definitely need a LONG time-out from each other (perhaps permanently), and it's ok with me if we don't hear a word about them again. Romber? How are they going to entertain themselves if there's no more media attention after the wedding? Unfortunately, I think we won't be able to avoid seeing them again. |
I'm with you martytravels, Ron should run as fast as he can. Kelly doesn't necessarily want to marry him, she just wants to get married and have kids (and she said that almost word for word at the end of the show). Recipe for a bad marriage. I pity the next guy she meets cause boy will the pressure be on him quickly.

This morning's Ottawa Sun reports another marriage coming out of the Amazing Race. Lynn and Alex will marry in Ottawa June 1. It will be broadcast during a moring radio show.
