Absolutely, Brian. She seems obsessed with having a wedding and starting a married life, not necessarily who she does it with. And considering how she's called him a "white trash redneck" and every other name in the book, I can't imagine that being a match made in heaven.

ron and kelly: so happy they didn't make the same flight. eliminated a lot of stress for me that they couldn't be in the running to win. they are just "good friends" now. on the early show, she said she went home and told her mom that they only had one argument! can you believe it? and as for the left and right, i don't know mine. i'm constantly pointing right and saying left. so i can totally sympathise with that. my husband and i have always said that i would have to drive in the race since i am a horrible navigator!
i'm happy uchenna and joyce won! |
I'm too am delighted with the outcome of AR7. U & J won both the race and at life in general. All through the race they set examples of excellent conduct. They are going to be fine parents. After seeing his public plea for money I was a little worried about them. I wonder if they can't just say, "I'm on a t.v. show called the AR and all my money is gone"? When a lady asked Joyce what the donation was for, Joyce was a bit vague. Are they not allowed to say?
Poor Ron, he seems like a nice guy who had to deal with an over emotional and self centered partner. It's hard to imagine that through all the wonderful places that this race took her, all Kelly did was whine about her relationship with Ron. That guy should have his own amazing race- as far away from Kelly as possible. Ron and Amber. Well he affirmed throughout the race last night that they were "screwed" and "the cop could have cost me a million bucks". I didn't mind R/A that much, they didn't annoy me with endless complaint. They worked well as a couple and they were entertaining. But I'm glad they didn't win. |
I'm betting that the flight crew had a lot to do with the doo getting reopened for J&U. Once the people at the gate let the flight crew in on the situation I think maybe R&A's recognisability may have worked against them.
Perhaps the pilot or a flight attendant wasn't a big fan of R&A? Once the got to Miami though, the end of the race was decided by a cab driver just as so many legs in AR7 were. All in all a satisfying end. I saw "the gang" in CBS's morning show and it seems that Ron and Kelly are just "good friends" now. That was a close one for Ron...whew! |
We were so excited for J&U! They truly deserved to win. Throughout the race they showed such compassion and high morals. It was a good show to watch with our children too. Of course we kept telling them never to act like certain people, lol! J&U were great role models for all of us, and I think they will be fantastic parents.
R&A are just too arrogant for my taste. I will not watch their wedding as I refuse to participate in the ratings. R@K, well, I liked Ron but could not stand Kelly. My DH is retired military and when he heard Kelly and her POW comment, he about went through the roof. I agree that she just wants to get married and does not care who she snags. |
"why watch when the best competitors have already played...?"
So, mbresso, does that mean you don't bother watching the Olympics or any sporting events, because the "best" have already set records? :-) I think when teams are begging for money they cannot identify themselves as part of TAR. They seem to be allowed to say they are racing, but not to say they are close to winning a million dollars or to mention the name of the show. I'd love to see how people on the street reacted when they found out they had either refused or helped the winners. |
Someone send Kelly a copy of that book "He's Just Not That Into You".

I am, of course, disappointed that Rob and Amber didn't win. I'm OK with Uchenna and Joyce, but I think they were mediocre racers, and I keep thinking about how he was an energy trader at Enron...the people who caused California's energy "crisis". Maybe he'll send his winnings to CA as we don't seem to be getting reimbursed by anyone else.
I believe Marilyn's correct that the racers are not allowed to identify themselves as contestants on a tv show, and specifically not the Amazing Race. I don't like bunching much at all, and I don't think it should come into play in the last leg at all. That's the reason Joyce and Uchenna won. If they hadn't been able to catch up because of waiting for that place to open, they would have been far behind R&K and in a distant third. I was hoping that the taxi driver would dump them when they told him that they didn't have enough money to pay. After all, promised to take care of him for all his trouble. Now just imagine how you would all have criticized R&A if they had done that. I hope that next season the producers come up with a better way to end the race other than having good luck in the last fifteen minutes. The last two seasons ended in a similar way, with the consistently best racers coming in second. |
I think Ron said it all when he said that he'd had someone telling him what to do for aloooooong time in the military and didn't want to get tied down again for a while. Smart move! He might as well as put a ring in his nose.
The opening of the door was a nice twist. I can't believed it was fixed. But I agree with the thought that the cameras have a lot to do with the favors that are bestowed on Amazing Racers at different times. The airline/pilot probably was notified before hand that contestants may be on their planes therefore being more willing to play along. I loved it when the door was reopened and U/J were allowed to board. I missed the Early Show this morning, and may have missed it in the above comments but did J still have short hair? Hope so. Romber did make it more fun to watch, but am so glad they lost. Not so much her, but him. Too arrogant for me. |
Can anyone fill us in on more of what happened on the Early Show?
|
"I was hoping that the taxi driver would dump them when they told him that they didn't have enough money to pay. After all, promised to take care of him for all his trouble"
Uh, isn't that exactly what J&U did? |
The Morning Show has the segment as a video download currently on their website:

Hi all,
it was a good show last night but I think Romber was the winner all along,am glad U J won but they werent the best racers,it was exciting to see the end in Fort Lauderdale Bonnet house where I live 2 blocks from there, nobody knew anything about AR here, thats how secretive they do things. I am wondering why it took Romber so long to get there from the Intracostal bridge that is only 3 blocks to the Bonnet house,oh well you never know how they play the camera shots |
I don't think Joyce and Uchenna won because of the bunching. The bunching allowed them to catch up to the other teams - and once they did, they were essentially on a level playing field again (taking the lack of money for J&U out of consideration).
Luck in being able to get on the last flight certainly played a large part in them winning - but it could be argued that many other teams (not just in TAR7) have won or gotten significant advantage from luck in the past. I think the overriding factor in Joyce & Uchenna winning was getting a cabbie that spoke Spanish and was able to help translate the clue correctly in order to get them to the right place. I am estatic they won. It was great seeing Uchenna's grace and courtesy in the heat of the moment - even while people refused to give them money - and I think his insistence that they pay the cabbie before running to the finish line speaks volumes. As far as the snide Enron comment - if no other former employee is making "reimbursement" why Uchenna should be the exception? |
I can't believe all the people that are saying Ron is so much better than Kelly. Yah, Kelly's said some pretty stupid and insulting things on this show, but Ron's just about matched her. He seems like a pretty arrogant chauvinist to me. Kelly may be pretty hard to put up with, but he's not a bed of roses himself. Communication is a two-way street.
|
martytravels, yes they did, but how did the taxi driver know they would? He wasn't happy about it at all. $50 is a lot to be short for a taxi.
|
well, this season is in the books. my real question is how are they going to manage 4 people teams next season...with a camera guy and cab driver that makes 6...they'll need 2 cabs everywhere they go. should be really chaotic.
|
Abbynicole, I completely agree with you. Kelly says some stupid things, but they're almost always in response to Ron's harsh comments or attitude towards her. I think she became desperate and just started lashing out at him. He can't seem to understand that Kelly isn't the only human being who works on "emotions" - I mean, come on, so you were in the military. Does that make you incapable of dealing with anything on an emotional level?! I don't think he'll be able to "commit" to anyone if it's the "emotions" he's having a hard time with. I'm SO glad they didn't win.
As for Uchenna and Joyce, Rob and Amber may have been stronger competitors, but team that deserved a million dollars in the grand scheme of the world is the one that did - U & J. Incredible people. As I was screaming at them to just run to the finish line and send the cabbie a thousand bucks later, I was admiring their ethical behavior. |
I was okay with Joyce and Ucchenda winning, however I found it extremely suspicious that the plane not only opened the doors for them but repositioned the tunnel as well so they could get on the plane. They never would have won the race otherwise.
They lost the previous race but because it was a non-elimination race they were saved yet once again. As far as the cab driver goes they aren't allowed to stiff the cab drivers, etc. I think the producers were a great influence on who won the final race. thank God, she/he devils didn't win. They were both horrible to one another. |
Kelly learned a hard but necessary lesson- no man likes to be nagged. The wisest course is to shut your mouth.
