Keith,
I too was disappointed that the winner of this leg got nothing. It does seem like Rob and Amber are the only ones AR will give a trip too. I hope this is not a foreshadowing of the winner. After all, the trips could serve as their honeymoon!
But I did like this episode. Both touching and funny.

moldyhotelsaregross Apr 19th, 2005 06:37 PM

Was there a mention of the wedding? If so, I missed it while talking on the phone during the commercials. I gotta rant to someone while the show is on!

Kelly to Ron: you became a POW because you are afraid to commit.

Stupidest thing I have ever, ever, ever heard on TV. Her "beauty" has completely left her.

>>Kelly to Ron: you became a POW because you are afraid to commit. <<

I do hope that was taken out of context...

I was so glad Lynn & Alex were eliminated, they have been getting on my nerves for quite some time now.

Gretchen can also get on my nerves at times, but I can't help root for them since they are the under dog....or were...

I would be very happy with Uchenna & Joyce won, or though I didn't think so at the beginning of the show if Rob & Amber won. They have competed very well!

Marilyn Apr 19th, 2005 09:13 PM

How, HOW, HOW is it possible to not give Joyce & Uchenna a prize for coming in first this leg? Romber has gotten a trip EVERY time they have finished first! FOUL!!

crefloors Apr 19th, 2005 10:10 PM

Oh darn...I hate to see the "boys" go. They are the last funny couple in the race. And yes, after getting her head shaved and all, and NOT get something for being first...just not right.

lyb Apr 19th, 2005 10:24 PM

The way the show was edited, I was getting scared that even though they got the fast forward, they still might not come in first...that would have been devastating.

CiCi Apr 19th, 2005 10:49 PM

The way that Joyce went ahead with the head shaving was touching. (remember the models 2 seasons ago backing off?) And they should have definitely won SOMETHING for that. The last winners of the fast forward won 2 RAV 4's. How unfair is that???

I love it that Joyce and Uchenna and Gretchen and Meredith seem to actually enjoy the travel sights and cultural differences. After all, a trip around the world is just as much of a prize as the $$.

Marilyn Apr 19th, 2005 11:23 PM

BTW, the Kelly/Ron exchange was in the previews for next week. She tells him he has lived his life avoiding commitment. He says, what about my commitment to the military. She says, you got out of that. He says, what do you mean, how did I get out of it? She says, you became a POW.

Pretty un****ingbelievable.

moldyhotelsaregross Apr 20th, 2005 03:37 AM

I've not paid careful attention but how many episodes didn't give a prize to the 1st place team? I thought that U & J were cheated last night!

dcespedes Apr 20th, 2005 04:11 AM

I was bummed to see the boyfriends go, too! :-(

Marilyn--I wonder if a prize is never awarded on legs involving a fast forward? I so wanted Joyce and Uchenna to hear Phil say, "I have some good news as winners of this leg of the race...".

jesssica Apr 20th, 2005 04:16 AM

I guess I am one of the few who actuallya are rooting for Rob & Amber. They are great competitors.

I'm happy for G&M that they made it this far, but for them a lot of it has been luck or at least it seems that way. I am so glad Alex & Lynn are gone, their dislike of Rob & Amber was getting very annoying, instead of focusing on the game they spent more time complaining about other people.

So my vote is for R&A, with J&U a close second.

Shane Apr 20th, 2005 04:41 AM

I like all four couples remaining in the Amazing Race but will root against Rob and Amber because they've already won a million smackers. I guess like Joyce and U-man best of all. The beauty queen is a bit of a nag. I find the old couple gritty in their efforts but Gretchens' whining is a bit irritating. It's a wonder that Meredith doesn't go mad.

Last night's show was the best in the history of The Amazing Race. Especially the end. What a wonderful climax!

lindilindi Apr 20th, 2005 04:44 AM

Joyce looks so much better with a shaved head! I think she looks younger. That motor skills thing may be true - I can barely carry a cup of coffee without spilling, and I always bump into things (I'm white). I think black people have looser joints that's why they are such good dancers... Some people have too many hang-ups about discrimination. I'm a cultural minority where I live and I think we should cherish our differences not hide them.
It's always the couples that stay in longest. It goes well with social theory where diverse groups with the same interest do best. I.e. male and female mix - different skills.

peterboy Apr 20th, 2005 04:51 AM

I enjoyed last night's installment except for Gretchen's idiocy. Could you be a greater dumbass? I doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that it might be more helpful to push on the elephant statue than to climb on top and scream at everyone. All the while she knew it was stupid but she stayed up there and kept screaming. They deserved to lose last night but, as we all know, if you're lucky enough, you don't have to be good.

I'm sure they'll be the next to go and I don't mind that Lynn & Alex got the boot last night since they are so annoying. Now Lynn can go home to his skin cream and beauty regimen.

My current favorite team is Joyce and Uchenna with Romer my second choice.

ncgrrl Apr 20th, 2005 05:04 AM

Well, I guessed wrong on the head shaving. I give Joyce a lot of credit of going through it. SHE deserves $1M just for doing that.

Loved the preview where Kelly says Ron can keep a commitment. Like getting out of the Army by being a POW. As if he had a choice of being a POW. Don't know why he was 'retired' but I'm guessing an injury.

makemyday Apr 20th, 2005 05:24 AM

Happy to see the boyfriends eliminated. The focused their strategy on beating RobAmber instead on their own strategy.

Looking forward to the next elimination involving Meredith and Gretchen. They were plainly lucky even with their own stupidity that is compunded by the lady's constant annoying, shrilly, whinny voice.

The beauty queen and the POW are having a very hard time keeping the lid on that garbage can full of white thrash.

JJ5 Apr 20th, 2005 07:21 AM

Joyce looks great with a shaved head. Kudos to her, leaves all the vanity behind, and strengthens the inside person. Hindus know that. She looks marvelous anyway, her big beautiful eyes sparkle more.

All these remaining teams deserve a prize. But I was disappointed that J& U didn't get one immediately upon getting to the pit stop last night. Both Amber and Gretchen hardly seem smart enough to have made it so far- but then again luck is a big factor. That Amber statement has to be one of the most airhead conclusions I have ever heard.

sandi_travelnut Apr 20th, 2005 07:34 AM

I think that every first place winner should get a prize, or none should. I was scared that even though she went through with shaving her head, they might get passed by R&A that would have been a real shame.

kureiff Apr 20th, 2005 07:37 AM

JJ5 -- what Amber statement?
