Amazing Race 7

Don't forget to set your VCRs. Amazing Race 7 kicks off tomorrow night.

Susan & Patrick, the mother/son team, looks like they could be fun. If they last a few episodes, I think Patrick is going to learn a lot about his mother.

I always look forward to seeing the different countries they go to. Some very interesting sights.

WOOT!

JenV Feb 28th, 2005 11:05 PM

Just read all the profiles and have to admit, I am worried. Susan and Patrick look fun and I am interested in the mother/son dynamic on the race, guess we will see tomorrow night. Happy viewing all!

Just finished watching the first leg of Race #7 and enjoyed it a lot. This group of people is for the most part likable and very different from the last bunch. Of course, this is just the beginning, but I was impressed with how polite they all seemed to be with cab drivers and locals they had contact with. Far cry from the last bunch. They also seemed so much more appreciative of what they were seeing and doing.

HOWEVER, I think we have another Jonathan in Rob--not his treatment of his fiance, just his gigantic ego and smugness. So Fodorites we have one to dislike again!

Look forward to hearing what you other fans thought. Also thanks for starting the new thread. The last one was getting very long.

Marilyn Mar 1st, 2005 10:13 PM

Rob was just as obnoxious on Survivor.

There's another thread with a dozen posts. Can we all get on the same page? I sure hate to have 2 of these going for the entire 7th race!

Giovanna Mar 1st, 2005 10:18 PM

I hope we can get this together Marilyn. I posted on this one before I found the other one--we don't need a "split personality!"

Interesting take on Rob, with a couple of people on the other thread making positive comments. I don't see it and think he's going to be another one to love to hate as I noted above.

ucsun Mar 1st, 2005 10:28 PM

yes the other thread has a few more replies, but this thread is actually labeled '7' whereas the other one doesn't have any number in the title.

personnaly, i'm rooting for amber/rob simply because the rest of them dislike them. focus on the race not amber/rob.

too bad about the hill billies...seemed like they would have been fun. don't like the mother/son team.

Marilyn Mar 1st, 2005 10:43 PM

I agree ucsun. I'll stick to this thread.

Didn't anyone else just love "Drive it like you stole it." I think that's going to be a catch phrase in our house, right up there with "Run, Charla, run!"

mamarosa Mar 2nd, 2005 02:48 AM

As much as I wasn't looking forward to Rob/Amber, I have to say that their somewhat laid back approach is a little refreshing. I have my reservations about both the mom and son team and the two girls that came in first (sorry, the names escape me). There's just something about the mom and those two girls that rubbed me the wrong way, the son, I like.

I also like the brothers, and really like the country boys, sorry to see them go so soon. I think that perhaps the first like ought to be a non-elimination round, after all, they've only just started, give them a bit of a chance to get into the swing of things.

I wish I could remember the names, but I haven't had enough coffee this morning and I'm off to work so can't go looking on the cbs site.....but.....I think that we have another Jonathon in that couple, her name is Deana, I think he is Roy? He seems like a bit of a hothead and was not very sympathetic to her 'choking'. Granted, she wasn't as whiny as Victoria, but they did remind me of them!

I was impressed with Peru and can't wait for next week.

mamarosa Mar 2nd, 2005 03:55 AM

OK....at work now and just re-read what I wrote pre-coffee!!!

"I think that perhaps the first like" should say "the first LEG".

As for the "Drive it like you stole it".....I LOVE THAT!!!!

Have a great day all!

lindilindi Mar 2nd, 2005 03:56 AM

I like Rob and Amber actually. Yes, they do have a lot of confidence, but being in two Survivors could do that to anyone. And can you see any other teams get out of the taxi and actually push the broke-down car out of the way?
I don't want them to win another $1mil, but that if they outplay the other teams then they deserve it no less then any of the previous teams.

Travelnut Mar 2nd, 2005 05:47 AM

I liked that the show covered one country a bit more in 'depth' instead of airport/challenge/taxi/airport. Much more enjoyable coverage.
Maybe this makes me 'obnoxious', but Rob cracks me up. The 2 blondes are already gettin' on my nerves with all the huggie/kissie stuff.

ncgrrl Mar 2nd, 2005 05:48 AM

Oh, no 2 threads on TAR.

"Drive it like you stole it" LOVE that quotes. Sorry to see the hillbillies gone.

The episode proved there are several southern accents. The Hillbillies (from SC) didn't sound like the beauty queen (girlfriend of the POW). Now if only Hollywood would notice.

bmillersc Mar 2nd, 2005 06:58 AM

Wouldn't you be interested to know that the "hillbillies" and the beauty queen grew up in towns only 30 minutes apart. Accents are quite varied in this neck of the woods. Sorry to see those guys go, though.

suspire Mar 2nd, 2005 07:32 AM

I was prepared to be neutral about Rob and Amber, but I thought they came across as very cocky and "we're stars and you all aren't." We'll see.

Peru - hello! I have been wanting to go there for EVER. It's so fabulous that this show gives us an opportunity to see places like this. AMAZing!

HKP Mar 2nd, 2005 07:36 AM

Looks like we're killing the other thread. "I'm sorry, you've been eliminated."

Meredith Mar 2nd, 2005 08:30 AM

So far I'm rooting for the brothers - I appreciate a team that can keep its sense of humor throughout the race. (Let's hope they keep it up during high-stress moments!) And I always root for the older couples, too.

Rob and Amber didn't bother me too much, but if they keep making "Survivor" comparisons every three seconds, then I'll have to start rooting against them...

Grasshopper Mar 2nd, 2005 08:39 AM

I liked the girls who came in first last night a lot. Other than that one melt down with the llamas, they seemed to reap good kharma. Their excellent Spanish really helped them out, but they were nice to everyone they came into contact with. I thought the bracelet gifts were a very nice touch.

I still say the "suck it up" guy is going to be this season's Jonathan and his partner is going to be the season's "victim".

Suki Mar 2nd, 2005 08:46 AM

I thought last night's episode was head and shoulders above any episode in AR6. The SC guys would have been fun to watch. I got the impression that they were a lot smarter and more sophisticated than the first impression would lead you to believe. I liked the quote at the end about the view being all the same if you're not the lead dog.

And I don't think you can compare Rob and Jonathon. Rob is cocky, but likable and I am with the group that finds him amusing. And did you hear the son say that Rob was as dumb as a rock? I wouldn't count on it.
