That's what I thought too Marilyn. Cabbies there are great, wish they'd figure out how to bottle that.

In other news, I don't see an issue with Rob enlisting locals for help as long as the show wasn't involved in making the arrangements. I mean, everyone has their strong suits. No one would mind if a guy was exceedingly strong in physical strength and used that to get ahead. Or brains. Or in cases past, women who've used their looks. Ok, so I have to admit, Rob does have the gift of influence. And unless the rules change, he's using his gift within boundaries.

That said, I still think he's a smug, smirking little git with no conscience and hopes he get's taken to one of these local guides "brother in laws" lace shop where he's stuck for hours and comes in 3rd.

Was the Frankfurt connection that big of risk? I believe the plane R&A/R&K arrived about 1 and 1/2 hours before the direct flight but I would bet that there was at least one additional flight in that 1 and 1/2 between Frankfurt and London. FF is a pretty big airport being so close to Raimstien (sp). I don't think it was that big. If you don't get on the first one, the second one would work. You don't have as big of a lead but you still are in front.

Here is the photo of Rob & Amber that Kelly drew on during her yield: http://www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing.../photo_finish/

We were thinking that, too. There has to be more than one flight from Frankfurt to London. It's not like either one is a one-flight-a-day destination. They would have been able to find another flight.

Binkieloo, the UK has its own version of
Survivor and they don't know who wins the US version. IF the Amazing Race is shown there, it's on a channel that most people don't have, so the chances of Rob and Amber being recognized there are remote..unless by a tourist from the US.

Marilyn May 5th, 2005 09:12 AM

I agree about Frankfurt being less of a risk than some other airports, since it's such a travel hub. However, it's also a huge airport and they could have missed several flights just trying to get to the gate on time. They were lucky to get on the original connection.

As far as Romber having an advantage, remember that every team has at least one camera-person hanging around them. I would think there would be lots of bystanders who would like to be on TV and would be willing to help any of the teams, if they would only ask. Romber is the only team who asks. Smart move.

Keith May 5th, 2005 10:22 AM

Aren't they accompanied by both a camera person and a sound person?

Keith

Marilyn May 5th, 2005 10:31 AM

march, you are so right. I think Romber, having been through the Survivor circus twice, is MUCH more savvy about what they can get away with because the camera and sound people lend them legitimacy. Rob consistently orders people around and asks favors that would get him turned down or punched out if he were on his own. Few other contestants seem to realize that they can do this.

(Apologies if I've already said this somewhere up above.)

Info. has it that next weeks episode is in Port Antonio Jamaica also known as "The Secret Jamaica" ...... Probably things will take place over the whole island , or maybe even some "island hopping" will occur!!! Maybe just a rumor ?

Kayb95 May 6th, 2005 11:51 AM

Well, if it is in Jamaica, I can see why one of the teams gets a flat tire. They've got some of the worst roads I've ever seen. We had a flat tire there - on the road to Negril. :)

Marilyn May 6th, 2005 12:25 PM

Jamaica would be cool. Maybe they'll have the teams smoke a great big spliff before attempting some mind-boggling task.

I would get a big kick out of seeing Port Antonio and that end of the island again. It's been several decades...

faithie May 6th, 2005 01:41 PM

Ahhhhh ...... Indeed ! Portie !!! Who would not want to BE there ! Except , anyone I have ever mentioned it to says , " where ???? " Could prove interesting . Faith

Ya'll ready for tomorrow night?? Finally the finale. Go Joyce and Uchenna!!!

Kayb95 May 10th, 2005 05:24 AM

I have a meeting tonight - I may have to leave early to get home in time. :)

I'm rooting for Rob & Amber because I think they've played the smartest game, but wouldn't be upset if Joyce and Uchenna won. They've made some mistakes, but I like them. Not a fan of Ron and Kelly.

cmeyer54 May 10th, 2005 07:53 AM

This might sound stupid, but is the prize winner take all or do they have a second prize and also $$ for each leg that a team finishes? (like Survivor?)

march123 May 10th, 2005 09:06 AM

Tonite's the night. Powers that be, please don't let Ron and Kelly win! That would be such a let down.

Keith May 10th, 2005 11:11 AM

CBS doesn't talk about, but there is compensation for the other contestants and the ones that last longer get more.

Keith

Marilyn May 10th, 2005 11:13 AM

How do you know, Keith, and how can we find out details? I'd be curious to know more.

Grasshopper May 10th, 2005 11:17 AM

I'm very excited! Joyce and Uchenna are going to win. Mark my words. (how pitiful is it that I'm excited about a tv show?)
