Ten days motoring 25 March to 3rd April
Hello,
We fly into Fiumicino on 25 March and shall hire a car - we have motored many times in Italy: this time is unfortunately a bit early in the year and I would not be happy motoring in snow - that is my concern.
We fancy Basilicata but my question is: at this time of year would we find that a lot of the roads would maybe have snow - if so, it may be better if we head north to Lazio and Viterbo etc? (Although we really fancy Basilicata).
Any advice would be appreciated - thanks, Patricia

Mmmm, you whet my appetite bilboburgler - can you give me some names (the guidebooks allocate about a whole page to Basilicate!) - I am searching how to travel there? Thanks in advance.

I like Potenza (high on a mountain top, with railway stations in the valley.) Matera is the big drawer. metaponto for the temple.
I don't know if you can access this but http://www.channel5.com/shows/alex-p...s-secret-italy Alex does a good basilicata
If you like it a bit more on the flat have a look at Puglia as well
