If you are planning on praying for good weather for yourself - what about the person who is praying for rain for his crops? Who will win?.

peeky,

I'll say one for the farmer too, although I will pray for rain during the overnight!

Thanks everyone; of course I will check the 10 day report as I do on all my trips.

Gianni: this is one of the few areas of Italy we have not been to and yes we are pretty passionate about Italy!

Will of course report.

If anyone out there still has any experience with weather the 1st and 2nd weeks of May for the AC, just share....

Thanks a mil....

We were there the third week of May last year. We had one rainy day (60s) and the rest were beautiful - sunny and in the 70s and 80s.

I have 2 Mays worth of experience to share - lived on Capri and in Ercolano. The weather in May is best described as changeable. Bring a couple of warm-weather things, a couple of cool-weather things, some coverups/sweaters, and a couple of medium-weather things and you'll be fine. Also a mix of open shoes and closed shoes with socks. I always find that if my feet are warm the rest of me is a lot warmer.

I would say it's actually pretty on par with DC's May weather (where I live now). You never really know what you're going to get! However, I do not think you will be at all uncomfortable (unless you pack inappropriately).

Every single time we have been to Italy it has been terribly hot (we go in May and September). We have experienced anything from high 70's to high 90's. last year (Sicily) we did not wear our light jackets even once - even in the evenings. Although we do not like hot temps it would never prevent us from going to one of our favourite destinations on the planet.
